Soft Close Full Extension - only SOME drawers?
Comments (17)Interesting thread. I was in the exact same position a few months ago when we were planning our kitchen. Of course I wanted full extension, soft close on every drawer... but the reality was that we splurged on the granite, and I had to scale back somewhere else. After giving it a LOT of thought, I decided this was a reasonable place to save some money. (Although, granted, it's never easy or fun to scale back, but it's the darn budget, you know!) So, we got the FE, SC (in our cabinet line, those two features come together) for our two cutlery divider drawers only. My thinking was that it would be most important to be able to access the contents in the back part of the sections. All the rest of the drawers are just "regular"... and while it isn't quite as *nice* -- it is still quite functional and I am able to utilize (and reach into) the drawers just fine. In a perfect world, I would have had every gizmo and gadget and upgrade... but I live in A Real World ;o) And some compromises were inevitable!...See MoreCabinet door dampers: how many per door?
Comments (5)I was glad to see this thread, too! I'd posted about my install on a thread that is about 2 years old earlier in the week and it didn't bump it up into the current forum. I was too lazy to start my own thread! I *really* don't think you'll need one per hinge. Even my key-laden 42" doors and 49" lower pantry doors are fine with just one! I can't wait to hear how you like them. I talked to my mom a few minutes ago and she said she and my aunt keep pushing their doors shut because they forget the dampers are on there, lol. I LOVE the quiet, lol! In case anyone is interested I found AHTurf to have the best price for the compact hinge dampers, even with shipping! Comments (2)When I read your question I thought..."Well maybe I can help with this one.." My GC just finished putting my soft close hinges on my Kraftmaid cabs yesterday. There were a couple leftovers, so I ran downstairs and am looking at the bag... I ordered these with my Kraftmaid cabinets from Home Depot The bag says... Blumotion For Doors blum Polybag kit fo compact hinges 971A9700.22 2.624.664.3 Asembled in the USA Components Made In Austria The back of the bag gives directions for Full overlay and Partial overlay application. Comments (1)Change the cabinet to a design that would use a 90 deg. hinge. Alternately, affix some soft cushion bumpers to the door so the shutting is silenced. I guess hinges with other-than-90 deg. closure are not sold in numbers large enough to justify the cost of adapting to the soft-close option. Casey...See Morelarrylwill
