Leptospermum scoparium 'Crimson Glory'

Last spring I planted a 1 gal size New Zealand tea tree. It has grown 2ft. It looks very healthy. In my neighborhood, however, what appear to be similar plants are now bursting with glorious red flowers. Mine has not a single flower on it, and I wasn't expecting to get any until next spring/summer. I am wondering if the flowering plants are of different species? The leaves and shape between the two look very similar, but I don't know the exact name of the other plant.
