Hi! In a few weeks I am having a gathering of friends. We are all going to create hardly succulent container gardens. We are all bringing interesting containers, cuttings & divisions of succulents to share, and fun/decorative objects to add to the gardens too. I think it will be fun.

I am providing the soil mix, gravel for the bottom of the containers, tools to create drainage holes where necessary and a great lunch. I need to make up a wheelbarrel of a soil mix. I've read many things on the web about different soil recipes for succulents. Some say use a potting soil & others say to use a potting mix as a base. Is it a potting 'soil' or potting 'mix' I should be using? I will get one or the other at Lowes, most likely along with other ingredients. I know to also add course sand, perlite, etc.

Do you use a potting mix or soil in your container succulent gardens as a base or what. Can you recommend a great soil recipe/ratio for this?

Thanks so much!
