Italian Lemon tree cutting - needed

Hello,

I know there is a large bumpy thick skin lemon (Sorrento lemon??) from Italy that is used to make limoncello. Does anyone here have one of those trees and if so would they be willing to trade for a mature cutting. I would like to try to clone an Italian Lemon just to see what would happen. Thanks for the tip but the Home Depot stores in my area do not sell Citrus. The only nursery that does sell decent and healthy citrus does not have a source for the Sorrento Lemon tree. I am really looking for a mature cutting.

Please help me. I received my Meyers lemon tree in February two years ago. The first year I had 30 lemons and because there were so many lemons, most of my branches broke (I did try to support them). After that my tree never seemed to come back to its beauty. Several times all the leaves dropped off. Finally I cut it back to try and start fresh. Now I have new growth, some beautiful and some (on the old branches) very small; those are not growing and the leaves are curled. I love one bloom and no evidence of future blooms. I have truly enjoyed my tree but now find myself very frustrated. Do I need perlite in my soil? Should I cut down on the water (I have two of the "bulb" watering glasses? I leave in Tidewater Virginia. Help. (MeyersMike feel free to call me 757-289-8899 with any and all advice. Thank you everyone for sharing advice.

I can't tell from this photo where there is a grafted branch. The graft should look like a ridge, bump or scar that goes all the way around the branch at a little bit of an angle. The wood above the graft should look a little different that the wood below. Yes, cut away all branches that are below the graft. Meyer does not have really long thorns, so if a branch has long thorns (longer than one knuckle on your finger) it is probably root stock, not Meyer.

It seems different varieties come in different sizes. My 2 Valencias, which I ordered last September from Four Winds, said semi-dwarf. I guess the Italian lemon is seriously dwarfed if it still attains 10-12' when mature. I have a New Zealand Lemonade and a Minneola coming at the end of the week. I wonder what my tags will say.

I thought you might try to contact one of the posters in that thread who said they had one of the trees so you could get a cutting. But maybe my idea of a cutting is different than yours. If what you want is an actual tree that is rooted and growing then you can check at amazon and search for "italian lemon tree" or go directly to the sellers website here:

I bought really nice Sorrento lemon trees from Clifton's Nursery... You'll find them online... based in California. Beautiful healthy stock. The lemons are HUGE and make great limoncello... (easy to make) The skins are no thicker than regular Eureka (store) lemons and it's not particulary bumpy... The big bumpy thick skinned lemons are Ponderosa lemons... more of an oddity than edible lemon.

I just bought the exact same tree that Cliftons sells for $69.00 at Costco for $18.00! It is 5 gallon with new growth starting. Try Costco!

Just wanted to add that I too bought a Santa Teresa Femminello tree from Cliftons. I called my order in and specifically asked for the Santa Teresa variety, and they set that particular variety aside for me. Literally, one day after talking to them on the phone, it arrived on my doorstep when I came home from work. I live only a couple of counties away in Southern California, but still that was fast. The tree is a nice vigorous tree, in very good condition, on the largish size for a 5 gal. No nurseries in my area carry any of these Italian lemon trees, and the Costcos in my area do not carry any citrus at all. It's San Diego County, go figure. Chris
