I have a little seed pod! LOL! Ok, so nobody is gonna wanna grow my pink noid x jamaica yellow cross but who cares? I have a pod!

I pollinated the bloom in 95 degree temperatures just for the fun of it and to practice what Eddie had shown me. I never in a million years expected this to take.

Is it silly of me to be so excited?

I've got to do that again! ohhh... this could be a new addiction.

Congratulations! I think that cross might produce some pretty blooms. I remember how excited I was when I got my first hand polinated seed pod. I think it was also a Jamaica Yellow but crossed with a CG. If you plant the seeds before they've dried out you don't have to peel them though I do still split the cork a little.

Oh, thats so cool. Congrats! Its almost as much fun as being a grandma or something, lol.

Casa Lilo CA Except for the smoke, the wildfire(s) are not threatening, the smoke is a nuisance, scratchy throat and watery eyes, not pleasant to be outside. When the westwind comes up in the afternoon, the situation does improve. I hope they get this thing under control soon, a crew of "Hotshot Firefighters" has been brought in to light back-fires, this should help. Our weather is more normal, no triple digits, middle nineties and chilly nights, good sleeping weather. Dog Gussie is getting more confident, that outing to the Coast with Joann's dogs has helped. She comes to the whistle! That is such a good thing, I don't have to yell for her. Shows she had considerable training before abuse made her such a basket case, and the training emerges by and by. Starting wiith baby-steps, now we begin to make some strides. Joann is fostering two 3 week old kittens, they were brought to the feed store yesterday, found on the side of the road in a cardboard box securely taped shut, apparently with the intent to be run over - I can't imagine what sick minds would do that. Anyway, the little female is a back and white cutie, and I think I may take her when she gets old enough. I showed her to Taffy, who stopped in his tracks, eyes as big as saucers, and then he slowly backed off. I don't think he is so crazy about babies. There is always room for one more, isn't there - and there is no such thing as a "free" pet. Lilo

Welcome! I tried Jenny Craig a few years ago...got within 10 pounds of my goal. My daughter went on it with me and was a poster child for Jenny's program. We ended up quiting because: 1. The price of the food. It was just too much after a while and when we got close to our goal weights, we thought we could do it on our own. 2. The consultants. Be sure, since you are the one PAYING, that you get a really enthusiastic consultant. Remember, the consultants at Jenny Craig are salespeople FIRST, and coaches second. If your consultant isn't HIGHLY motivating, then the program will stop working for you. My consultant, week after week, got bored with me and I with her. Switch consultants every month or so and change it up! 3. No support group to go to or talk with. Jenny Craig does not let their clients connect with each other. So successes and failures are not easy to track. You can join the "SS" group here on this forum and they will provide ALL the emotional diet support you need. But Jenny Craig is good for: 1. The jump start! It's really motivating to get those first pounds falling off fast and jenny Craig will do that for you. 2. Stick to the food they give you. I LOVED the taste of the food and the fact that I didn't have to think about fixing meals, counting calories, and the pounds just kept coming off. 3. I liked having someone else track my progress, measurements, and weight. Having to account ot someone every week was a VERY GOOD THING! Good luck on the program. PS: Both my daughter and I gained ALL the weight back, and more. Now we are both going to the gym and trying to be realistic about weight loss and maintnance. The key: You have to MOVE YOUR BODY (exercise) to be successful. And eat natural, whole foods. But Jenny Craig is an EXCELLENT way to get started on your weight loss journey!

Marigene, I often leave out the sugar, especially when my homegrown tomatoes are at their sweetest. Ashley likes it sweet, though, she's a kid. (grin) The paste was simply for the texture, I like my salsa thick and chunky. Michelle, the first draft of the recipe called for pressure canning because I wanted to be certain the acidity level was safe enough to water bath. It took MSU several years to agree with me on the amount of vinegar needed to water bath the stuff, but they finally came through! My cilantro is ready, I have jalapenos, the onions are ready to be pulled. Come on tomatoes, turn red! I'm down to 2 jars... Annie

Believe me, nothing worth taking a pic of. First I just worked on making a smooth bead on flat metal. Then I welded an angle iron to that flat piece. And finally to test that I could accomplish what I want to do, we clamped two pieces of threaded rod together and I made a good strong weld between them that we couldn't break. My desire is to weld rebar for statuary armatures. The problem with doing Riana's method is that bigger pieces will need to be reinforced when the chance that kids could crawl over them.

I cross pollinated some dwarf asiatic lilies ealier this year and am waiting for the seeds to be ready..they seem to be taking forever, lol.

I can just imagine how extited you are. Happy it worked for you and will from now on. Hope your first seeds will produce something awesome! I would just be happy if I could get the seeds to sprout :-(
But for now I am still collecting lol
So life is good. Very good and hope everybody can see the bright side of life and joy.

Yay, Suzie!! Nothing quite like it, it there??? I share your joy!!!

I found out if the pod is football shaped, the seedpods grow and mature faster- the long skinnier pods take much longer. A real technical explaination!!!
Good luck with your seeds, you NEVER know what can come of any cross, ya just hope!!

Congrats! I also am just for fun trying my hand at pollinating, I have a pretty big pod on my MM that was pollinated by NOL. I saved some MM pollen from when it was blooming and used it to try to pollinate my Inca sun and suaveolens pink, and also tried to pollinate inca sun with suave pink. I just did this a few days ago though so I don't know if it took or not.
