Well...they stink. Just to share, here is the remainder of my correspondence with these guys: BBP: I am very sorry but we do reserve the right to make substitutions when it comes to our plants, it's a right that all nurseries exercise. I am sorry that you are disappointed. I will have to make this standard policy more evident on the website as I can see that this practice is upsetting to some of our customers. Me (not feeling so nice anymore): What you are doing right now is false advertising and illegal. I spent my time researching the specific plants I wanted for my collection, and your site said they were in stock. Now you are saying they are not in stock and I should be just fine with you sending me plants I didn't ask for? Including a plant I can't even identify? What on earth is an scovp supposed to be? And I haven't even mentioned that my package arrived smashed and improperly labeled. I'm trying to be reasonable here...I just want what I paid for. I've done business with other nurseries and NEVER had this issue, so this argument is not holding a lot of water here. I'm not feeling disappointed, I'm feeling robbed. I can understand why your other customers are upset, if this is what you are claiming as standard practice even though you don't actually state it anywhere unless there's a problem. I'm willing to bet you don't have very many repeat customers, if this is how you handle things. You can bet I won't be one. If this situation is not rectified via either partial refund or prompt shipping of the remainder of my purchase for the three plants I did not receive, I will do my level best to make sure everyone knows the kind of business you are running here, including the Better Business Bureau. I really hope it does not have to get to this point. BBP: Jenni, I am very sorry, but right or wrong, I am standing by my decision. You can let anyone you feel would be interested enough to know about this, it really does not affect me since I have many loyal customers who actually do plenty of repeat business with me. You may also log any complaints you feel necessary with the Better Business Bureau. (I usually just throw them in the garbage when I get them in the mail by the way) Life is to short to get so bent out of shape about carnivorous plants. Please enjoy the very interesting sundews that we have already sent you. ...So I've accepted his invitation and shared their policy with you all. Buyer beware! Yes, I will be enjoying my sundews, but BBP will not get another dime of my money. And I still want my d. rotundifolia, d. aliciae and p. moranensis!! I have a story, but it isn't funny. We have a little yorkie-poo. She was less than a year old when she got sick. She had a few stomach issues and they did a poop culture (sorry!), and found some type bacteria. Treated that but within a couple of weeks, she started vomiting one evening. She had never done this and after a couple of times I called our vet. Because of her small size (she's only 9 lbs. now fully grown) they had us bring her in so she wouldn't get dehydrated. They examined her, pumped her full of fluids and suggested we watch her closely overnight. The fluids and some meds helped with the vomiting but by early morning she was vomiting again. We got up, dressed and ready to get her to the vet their opening time. They did an x-ray and showed us that something was showing in her digestive track. Something she had ingested. I remembered that she had torn one of her little toys and although I never saw any stuffing out of the toy, I knew there was stuffing and we just assumed she had eaten that. They had to do emergency exploratory surgery. I bawled my eyes out. The next day when we were allowed to *visit*, the vet showed me the PLASTIC MEAT WRAPPER that she had eaten. It was to a pretty critical point, it had started through her intestines. The vet was wonderful, even took our little baby home with her overnight to keep a close eye on her and the pup came through the surgery with flying colors. And a nice little *zipper* down her belly. Hubby and I both felt awful. We didn't know she had gotten the wrapper. We figured that she had quickly grabbed it out of the garbage (which was behind a closed door, but if she saw us put something in there she'd jump up to investigate) and gotten away with it without us seeing. The stick on label on the plastic wrapping was what we were seeing on the x-ray. Alot of tears and $$$ over a meat wrapper! She's not interested in the garbage anymore (she was just a puppy then) thankfully, but we are even more cautious when throwing something away! I never throw away a meat wrapper now without putting it in another bag and tying it up first. Our pup too watches tv. It's hilarious. There was an M&M commercial that she didn't like. Now she doesn't like the Weight Watchers commercial where they have the little orange monster (hungry). She knows by the very first sound of that commercial that it's THE ONE and immediately starts barking. She barks at most dogs she sees on tv, other than cesear. Maybe because he's little like her. tina

How exciting, on all counts. Hopefully, the kitchen will come together soon and you can enjoy your home. Sorry to hear DS has not been feeling well, hope he's better now. He's such a cutie. You are such a patient, kind mother, and he reflects the love and security he feels. (My DGS has been sick with rotavirus - finally getting better, but it's been hard on his mom, she's 9 months pregnant.) You are certainly keeping busy, now with the adoption, too. I was adopted 61 years ago, and I've had a wonderful life. DS will make a wonderful big brother. Barb

I've made note of that eye medicine, Mountain Lady. I may need it. I got Sandy into the cat carrier and to the vet this morning. Her eyes are very badly infected, and the ear mites they treated her for before are as bad as ever. The poor cat must be so uncomfortable. She tolerated being handled by the vet amazingly well. He washed out her ears pretty thoroughly and put ointment in her eyes. He also gave her another long-lasting antibiotic shot and treated the ear mites again. And he clipped her nails. He told me my only choices were to treat her for these problems or put her to sleep. Of course I said I would give treatment my best shot. He also said she's not a mean cat; she's a good girl. I agree. I thought about how to proceed with the treatment, and decided the best way for me to have access to her twice a day is to raise the dog crate up onto the bed so I can reach farther in. So I went to the hardware store and bought a tarp to protect the bed. I obviously can't deal with the little tube of eye ointment while wearing leather gloves, so I hope we can pull this off without injury--to me. I have severe Raynaud's, and even though we're not officially in winter yet I already have painful sores on my fingers, caused by a lack of blood flow. If they are opened, that would not be a good thing. I sure hope she can be restored to heath. I can't help wondering why this cat contracted so many things: eye infection, ear mites, fleas. I hope one fed off the other, and this doesn't indicate an impaired immune system that can never be improved. I've now spent $300 on her vet care, and that's a chunk of money for me. Between that and the report on her eyes and ears, I was feeling rather discouraged when we left the vet's. But then I saw a dead dog taken out on a stretcher, and his crying owners. I got in my car and cried, too--for them and for animals everywhere--but at the same time I realized how lucky I am.
