when to plant container-grown fig, pomegranate, and avocado?

Hi, I am in downtown San Jose (Sunset Zone 15). I have space for a small backyard orchard, and would like to start with fig, avocado, and pomegranate trees. I plan to use container-grown, rather than bare-root plants.

What is the best time of year to plant these trees? Should they be planted in the spring, or in the fall? Or does it matter that much?

I am seeing a good number of all of these at the nurseries now, and so am wondering if it's okay to do a fall planting.
