rmkitchen- You almost made me cry. This house has been such a trial, 3 years and enough heartache for a 100 more years. Had I known in the beginning what we were going to go through I probably would have thrown in the towel before starting. We are on our 2nd builder and we will probably have a lawsuit out of it. I don't even know if we will get to live in it. The bank threatens us almost weekly that they will take it if the builder they put us with doesn't get it done. Now they want us to finish, so we are out there doing tile, laying floors, hammering nails all because our builder spent almost all the money. Yes we have been complaining since month 1. This is property we bought 3 years ago. This will be my third summer that I have had a garden there. Our children have camped there, played there, lived there and now they threaten us. Its such a mess. I know its not something everyone wants to take the time to hear, but sometimes you just gotta vent. But this sweet bird made my day. My husband saw it, first rushed to get me. He knows how I feel about birds and nature. If I could have left it I would have. She hopped along the floor when I was taking pictures just talking up a storm to me, so sweet and uplifting.

I don't have a picture, but did get my picture taken with the hostess. If it's any good, I'll post when she sends it to me. Lots of people, awesome catered foods, by her mother who caters! So food was outstanding and BEAUTIFULLY presented. T'was nice to get out! And to feel good dressed up!

Well, this is dropping and so it's time to take a moment and thank everyone for their feedback. I got a big kick out of everyone's comments. It's interesting to look at the photos through someone else's eyes (in a manner of speaking). I appreciate all the kind words and compliments. I can't wait to have our shelves in. Then the pendant and hood will both look better and less "stranded". I can also then get things put in their "right places" and get some additional color into the room with displays of my pottery collection (a growing thing). I really appreciate all the help BEFORE the big reveal. If I had been left to my own devices I would have had stools at the end of the stove run out in the way of the aisle. I would have missed out on soapstone. I would have never heard of NeverMT. I would have lower cabs instead of drawers and pull outs everywhere I could. I would have done uppers instead of open shelves. I never would have shopped around for cork flooring. I probably would not have heard of Schoolhouse Electric (this impacts my front and back porches and my carport as well). I would have never driven all the way across the state to get my Domsjo and Numerar from IKEA. I would not have ZONES. I would never have dared to sink my fridge in the wall so it was flush with the counters. I would undoubtedly have a 4x4 square backsplash (but I hear those are coming back "in"). :) I have learned a ton here. I have seen a lot of really cool ideas. I will have some more of them before I am done. I will have a charging station and a pet center in my back entry way if it kills me. This forum is filled with great people. While we don't ALWAYS get along, who does? I don't get along with my family all the time. I don't see eye to eye with my coworkers all the time. This community has been very helpful and welcoming. Posted by glenda_al (My Page) on Mon, Aug 24, 09 at 9:10 It's also HEALTHY, but too much really cleans out your system (trust me, I know, and had to stop eating it) ________________________________ Irish Brown Bread If you can't get to Ireland to savor their wonderful Brown Bread, this is the best recipe using American whole wheat flour: 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour 3 tablespoons toasted wheat bran 3 tablespoons toasted wheat germ 2 tablespoons old_fashioned oats 2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) chilled unsalted butter, cut into pieces 2 cups buttermilk Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Butter a 9x5x3_inch loaf pan. Combine first 8 ingredients in large bowl; mix well. Add butter; rub in with fingertips until mixture resembles fine meal. Stir in enough buttermilk to form soft dough. Transfer dough to prepared loaf pan. Bake until bread is dark brown and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Turn bread out of pan and cool right side up on rack. (I try to save all my recipes like this so that I remember where I got it.) Shirley

Are you saving those hollyhock seeds? that color is gorgeus..I am collecting the black ones..I think it is called Niagra? Love yours!

Hi Knotz, I love your yard the flowers are so pretty!
Your children are so cute, I even love your dog!
The pond is very nice,neat garden sign lol! The
daylillies you sent me are growing very well, some
have even bloomed! I still have the Miss Anna brug
and will ship your cutting as soon as I cut it back
for the fall, I haven't forgot you! Nice pictures!

Oh!!! I really enjoyed your flowers. I actually felt like I was at your house! I love everything especially Tess and your grandkids! Are you having good luck with the newer varieties of cone flowers? I have heard mixed reviews and have held off on buying them. I have heard they don't germinate well from seed and the plants are not as hardy. I sure wouldn't think that from seeing yours! They all look so healthy! You have really done a wonderful job with your garden and I really like your naturalized settings!

Thank you guys :) ...I really need to get out and weed/clean-up, but my attention is more on my girls right now...They will be leaving in a little over a week to go back to Illinois, so time is precious...My son will be home from Iraq in Dec, so then they will all be together as a family again.

Barb...That flower is Cosmos Sweet Dreams.

Elizabeth...The Agaves took and the bigger one has put out two little babies around it :)

Shawn...That is Coconut Lime ech..I love it.

Susan...Glad the daylilies are doing good for you..Want some more??...And ya, I can't wait to get the Miss Anna brug..My daughter, Anna, thinks thats pretty cool.

Joyce...I've got lots of the newer Ech's and the only one I've lost is the Tiki Torch...Not sure why...Most of them I've gotten in the last couple years, so we'll see how they grow...So far so good :)
