Jade Cuttings -- how long to dry out before potting?

I've got a Senecio jacobsenii and yesterday I took it out of its original pot with potting soil (very wet but not moldy or rotted) and brushed off all the excess soil and it's now sitting on my counter in some pyrex, roots drying. I bought a wide, shallow pot to put it in with a mix of mostly perlite to cactus soil. I have 4 separate plants and was thinking of cutting each in half to re-repot so that it'll appear fuller to fill out the new pot. I've read on here to dust cuttings with cinnamon and let them sit. How long do they sit like that before I should (or need to) get them into the pot?

Also, I'm going to drill some holes into this container and it's going to hang in front of a sunny window in my living room. Can I tape in some coffee filters over the holes so that the soil/water doesn't leak out all over the place?

Thanks!
