I personally didn't let mine "dry." Well, if they're wet from washing or something like that I would say that 2-3 days is ample time, but if they AREN'T damp at all I wouldn't think you would need to "dry" them. I didn't and mine are coming around just fine. I just took mind out of the pots, peeled the dead layers, brushed the dirt off and sat them right on plastic weaved nursery trays. :-) I think you're probably good to go and can start chilling them!!! Hi Kevaz -- welcome to the forum. I personally would recommend that you do allow your bulbs to dry for two-three weeks. Reason being is, moisture + cold = rot, mold, and possibly black fungus. Moisture and cold do not go very well during the winter months and I water my hippeastrums (amaryllises) once a month because of this. I recommended two to three weeks of drying time but use your judgement because drying time can depend on the conditions you provide for the bulbs; just make sure that you dry them well and I would even suggest that you hand wrap each individual bulb in paper bags when you store them in the refridgerator for added aeration. It sounds like they might just need dividing and replanting, like any other perennial or bulb.

I would dig them and check on the underground situation. They are resting and growing and flowering, and when the flowering wanes, it usually signals that they're either too crowded, or they are damaged from pests or other garden trouble, or they need more food. It's hard to tell what the exact reason is without all the puzzle pieces, but they don't require digging and being refrigerated, so I would look for another culprit.
