Need caterpillar i.d.

Hi,

I live near Vancouver, British Columbia. I found a caterpillar on my impatiens and wanted to know what it might turn into. It is over an inch long, brownish in color, no fur, has V markings down it's back and 2 tiny white spots on it rear end. It was quite plump.

Any idea what it is called and if it would turn into a moth or butterfly?

Also can anyone recommend a good book on identifying caterpillars of British Columbia. I found a book on butterflies, but it had no pics of what they looked like as caterpillars.

Thank you kindly :-)

Aker
