These 9 plants, in shades from plum to maroon, will add dark, moody color to your garden year-round
Full StoryI need advice whether to keep the Dodonaea viscosa (hopseed bush) that are happily growing in my backyard. They were originally planted last fall from 1 gallon containers. I had thought they would make a good privacy hedge along a fence. (A house sits on the other side, only 9 ft from the fence.) Now, in retrospect, they will not provide sufficient density. I am going to use Podocarpus Gracillar (fern pine) instead. When planted each will be about 1 ft from a dodonaea bush. The fern pine will kept at 10 ft tall.
What I want to know is whether the Dodonaea and Podocarpus can happily cohabit together? I am reluctant to take out the Dodonaea unless it will create problems down the road as the two plants mature. If it's better to take it out, can it survive in a large pot which I can put on my deck?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you!
