Need guidance on two Mexican pings

Hi all. My new P. moctezumae and a P. medusina just arrived in the mail. I was distressed to find that neither species is mentioned in "The Savage Garden." I did a little Googling, and it appears that the moctezumae should be grown in a fast-draining mix (like some other Mexican pings). It's supposed to form a winter rosette.

I didn't find much about medusina. One source seems to indicate that taking care of it is a little complicated. Apparently the plant will totally disappear into the ground in winter and needs to be kept completely dry during that time. Also, the site recommends growing in an all-mineral mix: perlite, pumice, vermiculite, sand, etc. It says the medium should be allowed to dry out a bit between waterings.

Most confusingly, it advises watering from the top BUT not getting the rosette wet. That sounds like tricky procedure.

If anyone knows anything about these plants, please enlighten. Thanks.
