I also feel certain this is Botrytis cinerea, aka "Botrytis blight", aka "gray mold". As you read, typically it requires both wet conditions and also cool temps. I suspect (but am not certain) that if you have rainy summers with night temps. down in the 60's (or maybe even mid-70's if it's wet enough, but that's only a hunch), that might be cool enough for it to take ahold on petals that were vulnerable to it. It doesn't usually infect leaves, although it can infect very tender, young ones. The spores are airborne, and they'll germinate anywhere there's plant tissue that's sufficiently tender for it, as long as there's enough water around (it really does like "wet"; in an outdoor garden night fog probably won't be enough if it burns off in the morning sun) and the temps. are cool enough for a long enough period of time. I suspect your summer nights are cool enough for the spores to get started.

Between the two, I'd go for Miele just because of the better rack layout. Their premium racks are extremely versatile. I think Bosch should have put more thought into their top tray. On the Miele, you can remove 1/3 of the tray and utilize the full height of the tub - great for stemware, which I wash a lot of. On the Bosch, the tray is either in or out. Yes, you can sort of lay stemware in the middle basket but it takes up too much space in my opinion. I like to really, really stuff dishwashers before I run them - can't stand stuff taking up more space than necessary. Other than that, we have a Bosch without the third rack (bought four years ago) and I totally, absolutely love it. Best dishwasher I've ever used - including Miele. I have to say that I am not crazy about the round table in the middle of the chairs. It feels like the arrangement is fighting the shape of the room and the rug. Don't know if this would work, but I would turn the rug to run the other way in the room - long side running parallel to the double windows on the end. Then place the chairs side by side on each of the long sides of the rug - on square, not angled. Tables and good sized lamps between each set of two chairs for drinks, etc. No table in the middle. By keeping the seating toward the left side of the room ( as we look at the last floor plan), it would allow bookshelves to go on the long wall to the right of the window at the top of the floor plan. One other thing, just for grins. If the four chairs are identical in size and design, just different in color, I might try switching out the cushions - light cushions on dark chair frames, and vice versa. I think it will create a sense of greater continuity between all the seating.
