Mini Sweet Peppers (Like from Trader Joes)
Comments (2)Hi (again) Kristi!, I know nothing about the specific varieties you speak of, but in general a first year pepper does just fine with 1 sq ft of growing area (even less in a container). Some of the larger hot peppers will do better with a bit more space, but sweet/bell plants do just fine with 12" spacing. Also, there is a pepper forum on GW where the real pepper geeks can provide input as well. I think it's the 'hot pepper forum', but as I recall the folks there are just pepper geeks and will be happy to talk about not so hot (heat wise) peppers too....See MoreMini Parade rose for zone 6
Comments (10)Yes, it should be planted outdoors, it is a mini rose like others that you would order from Rosemania.com, etc. It won't survive indoors, roses are not indoor plants, no matter what the tag says. You'll want to harden it off, meaning provide gradual exposure to full sunlight over a week or two, or keep it in dappled sunlight, then you can plant it in the ground. There are probably 4 - 6 plants in that pot. If you are very careful, you can gently rinse the potting mix off of the roots of each of the plants, and repot them separately. then harden them off. you can also let them grow up a bit in the individual pots before planting in the ground. They may or may not be disease resistant, and the plant size may be large (over 3' tall) or small, but they usually make very good bedding plants....See Moremini sucker?
Comments (2)You can only get suckers if the plant is grafted. If it is an own-root plant all the growth will be of the desired variety. Most miniatures are own-root, which is why you thought they couldn't get suckers. You can tell whether your plant is grafted or own-root by looking carefully at it around the soil line. Does it have a knob from which all the good growth is coming? If so, it could be grafted. If not, it probably is own-root....See MoreHellebores from Trader Joes when to plant?
Comments (3)I would imagine that it depends on what it is like where you are now, and where you will be planting them. Like most plants grown inside, they will probably need to be acclimatized to the light levels outside by being put outside for an increasing amount of time each day, starting with just a short time in shade to prevent leaf burn. However, hellebores are fully hardy and are normally blooming around now in zone 6, so I wouldn't worry about planting them out as soon as they are hardened off and the ground isn't frozen. The ground here is still frozen in many spots, but that may not be an issue for you....See Moresautesmom Sacramento
