Kalanchoe Blossfeldiana? Need help IDing
Comments (2)Toni, thanks for replying. So the plants are kalanchoe blossfeldiana? Right now they are in regular potting soil in plastic pots (no drainage holes). I do have some clay pots in the basement and just bought some cactus soil today. Is that what I should plant them in? Also, should I cut off the empty stalk and try to root the top part with the leaves? Or are they supposed to look like that (stalk empty at the bottom, and growing up and down and all over the place)? Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreHow to get Kalanchoe Blossfeldiana to re-bloom?
Comments (33)i have Kb too, and i think something closely related to it , but mine grow very much in height and are a bit barren, not bushy , they have lots of sun and 2 of them grew really big like monsters with enormous leaves but none of them blossomed. If i have a central plant , in the pot will appear numerous baby plants i believe from the root underneath and i cut them off because i noticed that the ,more they are the thinner they remain and barren . i was so curious about the ones in shops which is where i got my first plants as gifts look so good, all bushy and small with lots of flowers, i tried to maintain but it was in vain, how can i get mine to even resemble the ones in the shops with just one main plant and as i described above ? should i trim? because i think they are wasting on the baby plants and growing too big and never flowering . thank you ....See MoreKalanchoe flowers
Comments (40)After googling, your are right chandelier plant is a common name for this kalachoe. I try to stay away from common names too, just because sometimes they bridge 2 or more completely different plants that have similar characteristics. Just look at the wikipedia page for "mock orange" for example. It lists 5 completely unrelated plants as possible "mock orange" plants. I have only 1 place with more light, a WSW window, with about 6 hours of direct per day, but because of the size of the pot and the way the window is, there is no way to put it there. I might could, if i rigged something in the window sill and had no other plants(LOL). And its been in the low 30 during the day here so outside isn't an option. I feel sure it has to be light related, plant is using almost no water, the new leave growth at the top is enlarged, and its losing some interior leaves. I could do short night treatment starting in the spring when it goes back outside, i have a box made and everything that i was using because there was a large streetlight right near the windows its been in....See MoreNeed advice for my Kalanchoe blossfeldiana
Comments (15)It's making smaller leaves now bc the warehouse that grows them pumps them with lots of fertilizers and stuff. Im in the FL Keys and I never have any small leaves unless yhat part the plant has gotten knocked off or got a kink on the stem. I have an 8×3' harden on each side of our front door. One side is nothing but difft types of Kalanchos and they get Big and bloom all at once for the hummingbirds to come in spring. But remember that everything you pull a leaf you have a potential for a whole new new plant or more. Its crazy o just stuck the leaf on top of an empty bottle and wait. Its cool how they make a whole plant from between the ridges. My neighbor brought me 3 leaves from Hawaii about 15 years ago. I'm now in engaged with them, but its OK, I give lots away and the key Deer don't eat it! Win for me. Good luck, I know its been over 4 years but I still thought I'd answer your question. I hope 2020 goes away fast, its Dec 11....2021 can't come fast enough ✌💚🍄🎅🎄 Happy Holidays everyone...See Moreplantomaniac08
