Well Barb, post a pic when it blooms! I have another varigated one "Sunset". It doesn't have any buds on it yet. It is tall with less branching so it may have to grow some first. Glad to see this one though!

Ohhhh we have to trade this fall... I am looking for sunset! :)))) I hear ya on growing them....they are kinda a pain... But when they bloom we all forget about the problems...:))))

Will be glad too! Have you started any varigated ones from cuttings? I think I read in someone's post that is it is more difficult to start them.

LOL Yes, I don't see so well anyway and it was just by luck I happened to see the little thing just right before I was going to cut.

It seems it takes forever for the little buds to grow and bloom!

Well Lucy, when I do chop it and if I can get some to root you welcome to a varigated branch. lol Do you not have luck with them?

I don't think that your Brug is Peaches and Cream but you are not alone in having it mis-labelled when passed to you.
The bloom on Peaches and Cream hangs differently than the above pictures, the calyx has only a single split where as yours has more and is attached the branch with a much longer stem..

It is possible, I am just going on what was it is labeled. It is labeled with some kind of marker pen on the trunk. I had purchased 2 that are varigated at the same time. One was suppose to be "Peaches and Cream" and the other "Sunset". I am not that familiar with Brugmansia as I am just starting to collect them. If it is not "Peaches and Cream" what do you think it is? I don't have a clue as I do not know what they look like. Maybe the seller mix them up and labeled them incorrectly.

Does "Peaches and Cream" open cream colored or what? My picture may be deceiving as well as the bloom in coming from the smaller stem that is behind the larger trunk. I don't see a difference in how it hangs and it has one large spit in the calyx on the back side, there is a very short split right in the front that you can see in the photo. (I may have caused that moving the bloom around?) The stem is longer that it is preceived in the photo because it is coming from behind and over the larger branch. The bud had a yellow color to it before it opened.

Something decided to dine on the bloom last night so part of it is gone. I will take another photo though for you all to look at. Maybe if it flushes later on you all can determine more about it.

Photo's that I looked at of Maya blooms look shorter and with a more turned up skirt. I read a post on this site within the last few months that discussed Sunset and Maya. I am going to go back and read it again. Maybe I will learn more information. If this one is Sunset maybe the other one I have is Peaches and Cream. haha Who knows maybe it is something else.

Peaches & Cream starts out cream colored, then turns peach.

As you can see, it hangs farther out of the calyx than your Maya/Sunset.

It also turns a darker peach color than your Maya will generally. Of course this all depends on environmental conditions.

Another note is that the leaves are more lanceolate, thin and velvety, as opposed to Maya's thicker/more succulent leaves.

I believe it was thought that Peaches & Cream is a pure versicolor. And the above mentioned traits certainly point toward that theory. However, the pods I have set on it point more towards it being a versicolor x suaveolens hybrid. Perhaps crossed back to a versicolor.

The stem with the flower was hanging over top of the branch above it which may have distorted it's growth. I moved the stem down under the higher branch to let it hang freely.

Here they are both together. The one on the left was labeled Sunset. It seems to have more yellow in it's leaf color and the edges of the leaves are more serated.

The one on the right was labeled Peaches and Cream has less yellow color in the leaves and has a smoother outter edge. It also seems the varigation is more white in color compared to the one on the left being more cream. The one on the right leaves seem more velvety as well.

Tammy you got it...the varigated Brugs do not like me. So I really am not trying to grow anymore. It breaks my heart when things die and I can not keep them alive.

Yours have a nice size. Regardless of what their names are. Trust me...it will only take one blooming and you will KNOW their names by heart.

I hope you don't run into the same situation. When you purchase something labeled you assume and expect it to be correct. The seller had the actual cutting labeled, not like a mixed up tag or something. Maybe he just made a mistake or he purchased it and truely thought he had it correctly labeled. It's fine as I did not seek any particular named brug, I just purchased what looked healthy to me. I am Very Happy with these Brugs! I don't care if their names are Ted and Jack however, I would prefer to be correct in representation. I am just not that familiar with Brugmansia traits yet but I will be. There are just so many different ones named and un-named and seems there are controversies with many of them. : ) I have not taken or had the time lately to research information on them like I should, just enjoying them for now. It is good to hear and learn from experienced growers whom are growing these plants and hopefully know their traits well enough to supply the unexperienced growers with reliable information. Good Luck with yours and post some pics of them when they bloom. By the way which ones do you think you have?
