Please recommend evergreen vine for trouble spot

Trouble spot: mostly shade except for 1-2 hours full sun at noon and somewhat poor drainage in winter. Plants that have survived multiple seasons in this area are walking iris, baby tears, and Campsis radicans (but BAD mildew in summer so I've moved it to sunnier spot).

I'd really like to grow an evergreen vine on the fence (we have trellis on the fence) that doesn't get too heavy and can endure the conditions. So far I've tried variegated bower vines but they die in the spring, I assume too much water in the winter?

Can anyone make a suggestion? I already have pink jasmine but didn't think it would get enough sun in that spot to bloom. Would mandevilla do okay, the soil is pretty much Sacramento clay.

Thanks!
