OT: POTD: Bob come out of hiding and look at the Plumeria bloom

Good Morning to all.

For Days I have been thinking about Bob. Has anybody heard from him? That is not like our Bob not to stop by in such a long time. So I post my worries publicly, since I know we all love Bob.

So now that I came to have a blooming Plumeria cutting, I really hope Bob is ok and please Bob...give us a sign. Even if it is just a Hello.

As I went over to my neighbor to see what we can do about the tiny Bambi being lost in his flowerbed, we talked. Then my eyes caught all these blooming Plumeria cuttings on his porch. How gorgeous!! Well lets just say I forgot all about Bambi lol

His mother plant, which he says is only 2 years old, is HUGE. He is also the one that left them out during the winter and ONLY brought them in when it REALLY got below freezing. But for that he did have to cut off the top so much...they are as long as my arm. Then he just stuck them in pots filled with leaves and some dirt.

Of course I stuck my nose on them, but he said they do not smell. Well...not so. Believe it or not...I pin pointed the smell!!! Which for me is hard to do. Unless it is like from the citrus tree blooms. The blooms have a very mild Peach fragrance. Just beautiful. So he ask if I want some, even though his wife gave me 2 big cuttings last summer lol. But those are growing but no sign of a inflo yet.

Sad news is that he just ripped the cutting out of the pot and by the time I came home and potted it up, those pictures are the only ones from a happy bloom :-( But I was in heaven!!

I was already tickled pink when I discovered that the cutting that you Chocolate Brug send me, Mystery, had started to develop a inflo. That having been my first sighting of a inflo...I knew right then what it was..yippeeeeeeeeeeeee

Now all I need to know if the name of the Plumeria will always be a Mystery or it was named Mystery lol

Why am I vacationing at a hot AND humid place soon?

Who wants to swap gardens for the summers? lol

Bob at my age...I got the patience for like 40 seedlings or so hahahahahahaha NO I am not THAT old roflmao Bob I wonder if you can share a picture of your seedlings? that would be awesome. Cause every time I look at the progress mine make...I wonder how SLOW or fast they will grow. Just like the Ardeniums lol I swear they will NEVER get bigger lol Lucy Oh and by the way...I too am hoping for a great surprise out of the seedlings :-) roflmao then I am surprised almost every day now when a new seedling I grew out over the winter...starts to show WHAT it is. How BIG it is growing. I got at least TWO kinds...that I SWEAR are WEEDS and I transplanted them ever so carefully and with love. So I am just letting them grow for now. Cause I am saying to myself that there is NO WAY that the birds planted THAT MANY in my seedling trays...you know what I mean? lol

Thats good to know Patsy, thanks. Well John adopted it and takes it in at the shop every night so the deer don't eat it, lol. I guess I'll get to bring it home this winter. He got so many compliments on it and the orchid he won't let me have take them home, lol. Do I remember the yellow one at the zoo? No, lol. It was more than last week but I bet we can get Kylie to fight off the wild animals so we can collect seeds next time. Lol.

David ...(right? way to early to dig around in my brain lol) David don't be silly now. POST THAT PICTURE!! I ALWAYS always love to see other members post pictures...no matter if in own thread or adding it on to another and I believe we all think the same. When it gets light I go check if it came with a name. It is my first year of having BOTH outside. Rigo got me started with this one: oh shocks...I looked through a LOT of pictures...somewhere along the summer I quit organizing them lol I tell you what...I go and take a picture of BOTH plants...FULL view and post it here later. When I brought this one home it did not look happy so I looked in the pot and low and behold it had Grub worms in the soil. There is a big difference between those two. I do not know why. So far I've had 3 varieties of stapelias bloom and none have been stinky. I was expecting them to smell like my Voodoo lilies which I made the mistake of planting near my front door when I first planted them years ago. It was horrible. It smelled like I was hiding a corpse in my foyer! lol I don't think that epi fruit is edible. It does have a slight sweet scent but the texture is just too nasty to even think about tasting. I'm not even looking forward to separating out the seeds. I grow a bunch of plants from seed that take forever to bloom. It's just so cool when they finally do flower. My problem is that I grow a little bit of everything and some varieties more then a little bit. Space and my utility bills are a big problem in the winter. I've always grown tropical plants but when I stopped working my collection really got out of hand. Just ask my family. lol Karyn

Chocolate Brug it all sounds like your named Plumeria fits this one to a T. But I am sure with Plumerias you can not exactly say WHAT the name is either and thus, I should call it my NOID peachy Beauty :-)

Theresa the cutting itself is unfortunately real crooked...no way you can ship it. But I took 2 extra...one for Kristy if she wants one and who knows, maybe Kylie wants the other one?

My luck ran out this morning thou. I went and said hi and checked if the Bambi is really the one in my next door neighbors yard...and I volunteered to water their yard for a week after I get back from Vacation rofl. But I don't mind. I am so glad I can repay them somehow for their generosity.

Lucy... isn't that Plumeria a beauty! When I saw the subject, I thought "there's no way that the AG is blooming already"! I thought you were some kind of magician. I have been crazy busy, so even my lurking has been spotty. Thank you for thinking of me, as I hope you know, I think of you.

I am so sorry to read about your loss of Amadeus. It is good to see that you are right back into your gardening, posting POTDs, and even have a new family member in Precious. That Kitty will always be special to you, for coming into your life, when you needed it most.

Have a great visit with your daughter in Florida.

ahh Bob...SO good to hear that you are just busy!!!!!
Times will come when you hopefully have some time again to stop bye more often.

Hope your other property is coming along fine.

lol Bob, no magician....but wouldn't it be GREAT if they DO bloom soon? After all...the Mystery Plumeria cutting from Chocolate Brug is growing a inflo.

Amadeus is without pain, without suffering and in heaven now. That is all that matters really. Thank you Bob.
