Tried it, both liquid and the granule stuff. The squirrels/ rabbits were like, "Thank you for the seasoning" and went ahead and ate the stuff anyway. Or they waited for the next rainstorm or after I watered. Whatever the case it didn't work, even after a day of use. I also used cinnamon, both powdered and oil form. That helped with some success. At least until either it rained or the stuff wore off. But being too expensive to apply on a regular basis, didn't help. (But I'll add specifically for this topic, the powdered form of cinnamon did not do anything for bulb planting.) But so far the trick I did mixing like thai hot pepper garlic + Habanero seeds + neem oil and rubbing on/ soaking on approx.. 41 daffodil bulbs seems to be helping. I left one half rotted bulb out with said treatment just to allow them to try one. That one was tried and shredded, but very few others have been dug up since then. But it remains to be seen if it will work in the long run.

Are you sure it's moles- or voles? 2 critters, 2 different digging habits - 2 ways to catch them. Moles run tunnels just under the grass- they look like little underground subways- then they come up through a hole, look around, then go back down & continue their tunnel on wards.as for moles- I saw an online video of how to kill them- (an exterminator sells his traps)or you can make your own set up- check it out- he uses 2 spring loaded mouse traps that are set- either side of the hole- Then you place a tunnel over the whole system, so the little guy has no choice but to step into either trap. I didn't have moles- but voles. Voles on the other hand, dig out a perfect circular hole- anywheres from 1/2 to 1 inch like a front door entrance- usually at the base of some plants. Sometimes I'd go out & a whole plant would be gone- he'd eat the whole thing! Usually the grass or plants are chewed off all around the hole- they were destroying my flower beds til I started using peanut butter with D con... At first I tried using mouse traps with peanut butter- they loved the treat but always got away! (cheap mouse traps these days!) So I mixed D con in with the peanut butter-place it just near their front door- they'd eat it all, close themselves up inside their hole, & die. They are nocturnal, or active during cloudy days- so I refill just before dark- CAUTION- make sure that you stick the peanut butter laced with D con on a trap & stick it down the hole if you have dogs or children around- dogs love peanut butter too! You can always stick some bait on a small rock, then put it near the hole, & cover the whole thing with a flower pot or bucket, etc. I have had excellent results killing generations of voles this way- I wish you the best- I know how frustrating it can be! kasha77

Excellent ... I still have bubble wrap left over from insulating my potted roses in summer (last year) - it worked a treat - when they were planted out in early March they'd all developed lots of really healthy roots so being confined to a pot hadn't fazed them at all. The straw arrived as packing around my rose order a few weeks ago - it's lovely clean wheat straw .... I put it all in a plastic bag and have been saving it until I could find a use for it .... guess I'll re-arrange my very overgrown strawberry beds and use the straw to protect the strawberries. I re-read your advice about watering .... it would seem that citrus and roses are almost diametrically opposed when it comes to watering. I haven't watered the plant since I brought it home and soil is still quite damp so I'll keep monitoring it and when it feels dry down to the second knuckle I'll water it.
