I think you have crassula "watch chain" there in the back. Looks like an echeveria there in the front. Otherwise you got living stones and split rock and baby toes and one other, the type of which I can't remember other than that the name starts with an "A".
If it was me growing that pot everything except the crassula and the echeveria would be dead soon. Of course, your results may be different. I think the stones and rocks and toes and the other benefit greatly from special atmospheric conditions like you would find in an arid house. The UC Berkeley Botanical Gareden has an arid house. Pretty interesting inside there.
I was just browsing my new Timber Press catalog. Debra Lee Baldwin has a new book "Succulent Container Gardens". Her books are pretty good. You might get some good ideas for succulent containers out of that book. Cheers.

Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad idea growing plants with different needs together in the same pot...

The Argy, Fenestraria, Aloinopsis and Lithops are already etiolated and probably overwatered - the soil mix looks inappropriate, and the Echeveria from the Americas just looks out of place amongst the Africans.

You've got lots to learn kiddo. There is much to read on this forum if you are willing to make the commitment.

Yes, unfortunately you do have plants in there that aren't suitable to be grown together.

The mesembs (short for mesembryanthemum) (I'm using it as a catch-all phrase for all of your plants excepting the Crassula and the Echeveria) have very specialized needs that, while relatively simple, are quite different from the Echeveria. I was able to grow the Crassula without too much of a problem, but I think the Echeveria and Crassula should be on their own (that's Crassula muscosa or C. lycopoidiodes, btw).

I haven't any more to tell you (I'm terribly ignorant concerning the mesembs) but at least you caught this before they starting dying and you wondering why they're dying.

The soil is also unfortunately unsuitable for most/all of those plants. You have to remember none of these are tropical.

The plant in the back is Crassula muscosa, it is not watch chain which is larger and a hybrid and it can take bright light and low water. But you really need to take the advise about the soil, add pumice 60%/or perlite and coarse washed construction sand, 30% only 10% top soil, or none, and more sand instead.
When in Africa I saw the lithops growing among and down in the sand between white quartzite. They were only getting water 6 months out of the year if that much and I don't know how much at that 4" perhaps more/less. I think what was trying to be said is don't mix plants from So. of the Equator with those North, because of opposite growing seasons. I hope this will make sense to you. Norma

Aw drats, some plants may look similar but have very different needs.

X, I didn't think that their needs would be totally different. I've had some for a while just in the tiny 2" pots that I had treated with the same watering conditions (very little and moderate light). Since they had all done well I thought that this temporary home would be better than that tiny pot.

I did say I'd replant if needed so, I'll do that this weekend. I was going to use Al's gritty mix, since I still had some but it was not enough to fill this container so I used a perlite, peat, bark type mix. Its very dry with lots of bark so I thought it would be a decent substitute until I mixed my own batch.

There are so many plants from around the world its hard to keep track of them, let alone all the names of the plants I have. Thanks for the help with the names, I pretty much only new the echeveria and the lithpos.

X, I do want to learn more about the plants I have an keep good care of them. I need to keep a book of my plants names, living conditions, origins and etc for my sake and the sake of my plants.

So, I can keep everything together except for the echeveria and the crassula. As far as soil goes, would Al's mix be good? I'll be making some here in a couple of weeks.

Jeff, would the Crassula do well with Crassula multicava. I've got very little space to work with which I why I am trying to combine some plants so that I have SOME space to walk around my patio. Having little pots everywhere becomes hazardous haha

Yes, I think they would, and you've have contrasting sizes of Crassulas, too!

Please leave out the peat -- NONE of the succulents will like it & it's likely to make problems in the future.

Ashley: if you like the look of a group planting, keep each individual species in a separate small pot, arrange them as you like in a bigger pot, and fill in the gaps with gravel. This way each plant can receive individual attention and if repotting is needed, no disturbance of the neighbors is needed.

Its a good point you raised about each one being in its own pot receiving similar care previously, so why not just plant them all together. But in a larger pot with free root run, the more vigorous species will take over more quickly, roots will become entangled, and watering decisions are made more difficult with the greater soil volume and uneven moisture levels.

Keep it simple. Since you are a newbie, the last thing you need is to complicate things.

Norma: no I do not mean "don't mix up plants from different sides of the equator". This is of no relevance. Plants grow based on the season, day length and environmental cues. A "winter growing" S African species will still want to be "winter growing" in USA. Winter in the US is December, and August in S Africa...but the calendar month is irrelevant to plants.

Here's an analogy: if I transplanted a Maple tree and replanted in Australia, will it become deciduous when it is cold and winter in Australia (in July) or will it be dormant there and leaf out during their winter which is our summer?

The answer is it will grow based on the local climate, not on the calendar month of its home. Hope this makes sense.

Hey X! I get it, a plant will conform to the seasons around it no matter the location.

I was thinking about leaving them in separate containers but the pot their in now is too small for that. I'll be separating these and dedicate the bamboo container to living rocks only and will move the others to different separate locations. Well, aside for the crassula, as I said earlier I will place this with my Crassula multicava.

Also a good point about the roots system. The area is small and I should have realized the roots of the more rapid growing plants would have soon taken over.

Thanks for the help everyone! And for being kind to a newbie haha :) we've all got to learn one way or another.
