Agave preparing to flower

I have a wild-collected Agave stricta (at least that's what I've been calling it) which opened up its center leaf cluster in the past few days and seems ready to send up a flower stalk. If I'm right about the species, I should get a 5 to 6 foot stalk with purple flowers before the funeral. Here are today's views:
