I feed it every few weeks with some generic 12-12-12 stuff.

It's growing near my septic drain field. It is on the NE side of our house and gets full sun most of the day.

I have another one on the other side of the house that isn't doing anything. I'm going to move it to a planter and try different areas of the yard until I find it's happy spot.

OMG!! That is beautiful .. I think I can only dream of a brug like that.

That's fantastic...the brugs sure love the Southern areas of our country! I will consider myself lucky if my brugs reach that size by the end of the growing season. I can only take satisfaction in knowing we can grow the Sanguineas here in the Northwest. I'll just have to be patient with all of them and see what I get.

That is a sight for sore eyes for all of us stil lfreezing in the north.

I would guess if it starts white, then turns pink it is an equador pink, that is what mine do when they are not shivering.

That bird bath...I try not to fill it if I can help it. I have a cat, Tinkerbelle, who shoudl have been named Madam Death. She hides under the plant and shoots out at the bird bath and takes out a bird in no time.

I've seen her do it and it's amazing and horrible. I took down all the bird feeders after the last poor blue jay.

The changing colors...I have no idea what kind this is. My FIL's plants (the parent plants) all had white blooms with pale pale pink edges and none of them were like this. His grew more like trees down in Miami.

When the green buds open, they are bright bright yellow before they open. When they open, they are white and the white turns to bright pink overnight.

We had a tornado or something close to it yesterday and it dropped a tree out back. As soon as it was over, I went runnning for my baby out front to make sure she was ok. Roof damage? Who cares? My brugmansia was fine!!!

My husband is convinced I've lost my mind over this plant. :-)

I think I'm more impressed with the lovely dark green, healthy leaves than the gorgeous flowers! Mine are a sickly yell0w-green with holes...I will dream of one like yours.

I've got one just like this! (Who cares what its called- I'd love to have a name but....) They are gorgeous when they bloom like this one. Mine only gets five or six blooms at a time on it but they are huge, sometimes folding back on themselves during the evenings. Since you said yours is growing on top of a moist spot, I'm going to move mine to a moister spot than its in now. Daily waterings just don't satisfy my baby girl. I've also got five white ones, a pink (from Judithw), a yellow, and a new one (a named cultivar) called "Sunset" with multi colored leaves in a soft blue green. Can't wait to see what this one looks like in bloom. The guy that sold it to me said it changes colors as it blooms and just smiled and said "YOu'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE"! I think he actuallu giggled at me.

That is just breathtaking! I only hope mine will someday
look half that good. This is my first year for a Brug. It is
variegated, and I don't know what color it is yet. It had about 30 buds on it a week ago. They were about 3 inches long, and overnight it just dropped them all along with a bunch of leaves. It was 100 degrees on both Sat and Sunday. I feel it may have been the heat.

Fernzilla..I have been having this same problem. Last year they were just beautiful and did well with such a small amt of attention. I was actually expecting to spend most of my time pampering them, which would well be worth the effort to me. I really think it must be the extreme heat we had this year. No lack of water or TLC here. Have been just sick about it.
I have this same plant..it was tagged but who knows where that tag might be now! Mine did not put on a show like this one..wow..I really might get the big head, as we say here in the South, if it did bloom like this one!

I was surprised about the date too. Wow! What a great looking plant! I thought I liked the tree-shape better, but this picture definitely makes me reconsider.

Oh, I like them all. I thought my versi was going to be bushy, but it's turned out to be a tree. I'd like to see a pic of it now.... witch1031??? You still around?

You know what? That photo makes me want to cry. It doesn't look anything like that anymore. :-(

In May-June, it rained every day, all day, for 30+ days. Then in July it didn't rain at all. Then, in August, the temps soared and now my brug isn't as beautiful.

It's much taller, getting rather spindly and while it still blooms, it's NOT the plant it was in May. Time to get out the loppers and do some pruning. Which means...more brugs in my yard. As long as we don't get a hurricane! :-)

Don't worry, Terry, it will ome back out in the fall. Mine all look pathetic too.

Mine started out, not like yours!!!! I had such pretty blooms and.."really thought I had it right"!! Well, mine look like they are on their last leg, as they say in Tennessee. I have watered, fertilized..name it, it has been done. Sometimes, we start from scratch, right?? Keep on keeping on!

I would not cut it back if I were you...even if it looks so bad. If you do, you'll delay flowering when it comes out of its Summer dormancy soon.

When your cooler weather arrives this Fall, it will really kick in if you leave it alone for now.

By the way, how about posting a picture of it now so we can see what it has become due to the Summer heat?
