Who did I promise a banana to?

Somewhere on the WWW I promised to send someone a banana this spring. But, due to lack of use, I lost all my past emails and can't remember who it was so step up and let me know. I have the day of 5-16 off from work so would like to get it in the mail on that day.

I am so sorry! During a short period of time I was doing some exchanges with new people so my brain is just cluttered. And just to clarify, I have paid for all postage, etc., but did make that promise.

To those of you that sent me brugs, they're doing great! Having a greenhouse, I expected them to be further along than they are, but, that wasn't the case. Regardless, I hope for flowers this year!

Also, I set them out last week and did not strip the foliage as most of you suggest. So far, so good! They are getting filtered sunlight. I'll move the larger plants away from them some evening this coming week and hope I'll be able to keep the leaves.

I hope whoever wants the banana will let me know, but just a heads up.... I work many many hours and may not check back in here before next weekend. But I will be checking. Thanks!

Well it was not me :-( But it sure would be nice for that person you promised it too...if she or he sees your thread. Unless that person got lost in the WWW also hahahaha

Hope that the brugs will grow and bloom for you this year. Just feed em enough and they will lol

Oh!!! I am sure it must have been me!!! Not!!! LOL!!! I bought some banana trees at Home Depot last fall and over wintered them in the pots in the garage and they did fine! They are outside now putting on new leaves. I had not grown banana's for about 15 years so I hope they do well. Hope you have time to enjoy your gardening and not have to work too much!

The KA's without the grinders are also the most expensive ones because the most expensive ones are the ones that are the quietest. KA would not be able to achieve the low noise levels (and charge more for a DW where they advertise its low noise levels) if the DW has a grinder. The grinder makes noise. Simple as that. Actually, I don't think a grinder is necessary. I have a Miele DW (I think it was second-from-the-bottom of the line when I bought it). The Miele's don't have grinders, they instruct you to open a small chamber at the bottom of the DW every so often and clean it out . I do open it, but rarely have found anything to clean out of it. As Weissman said, I scrape my dishes, but don't rinse. (as an aside, definitely don't rinse; if you do, you give nothing for the DW detergent to work on, and you'll end up with etched dishes and glasses). If you feel you or your family often put dishes in the DW that still have bones or other hard objects on them, then get a DW with a grinder, and save a little money while you're at it. If having a quiet DW is more important to you, then buy a DW without a grinder. The quieter ones will be more expensive.

You should be able to purchase nice raised panel 4 panel interior doors in that price range. There's no benefit provided against warping by going thicker. I just dealt with a 12" beam that had warped over the years (It and all of the posts and beams in our house were installed after only a year of drying outside). I think that it would actually be pretty unusual for a raised panel door built from kiln-dried lumber to warp if it's finished. Sawdust and wood chips molded into things arguably have a place in home construction, but for finished surfaces, it's hard to go wrong with the real deal.

I'm home from our wonderful trip. We were in the New England states for about 5 days. Wow! The changing of the leaves is something that I have wanted to see all my life. Every other time I was in the area the leaves had changed and I missed it. We do not have the 4 seasons (more like 2 seasons) where I live so this one one of those things I've had on my "bucket list". I now have been able to cross it off my list. Such a nice trip! Meeting Bizzo was also a wonderful experience! She is just as nice in person as she is on the forum. More pictues later of our trip. Tomorrrow I leave for another "experience" I can cross off the bucket list! We have reservations in New Orleans for the kitchen table at Commander's Palace. This table sits in the kitchen and you get to have a little of everything the staff prepares. We are going with another gastonomical couple that will appreciate the wine list and food as much as we will. We booked a room at a B&B close to the restaurant so we can walk and not drive.... We can always take a taxi but that may take us to Pat O'Brien's on Bourbon street and this is supposed to be a short trip... I know this is an ancient post, but I want to just jump in for the benefit of any archive researchers and say that as of 2020, Benjamin Moore is still offering the 880 White Zinfandel as part of its Classics Collection. It tends to lean toward mauve, and it's a decidedly dusty pink pastel tone when on the walls. For someone wanting even a more subtle pink, try Benjamin Moore's White Opulence 879 (also notated as OC-69 in some places). The White Opulence appears white in some lights but gives off a tinge of pink in other lights. I'm considering it for an open-space living area where as the original poster so aptly described, it's hard to come to a decision between male/female perspectives on the color for the living areas. I'm also struggling to match a fresh pink color with natural cherry wood cabinetry that will be in the area, and the White Opulence is not so pink that it clashes with the cherry wood orange leaning, yet it also accommodates the red decor we have around the corner from the kitchen.

It wasn't me, but speaking of bananas I bought one that is "hardy" for my area last year, I didn't believe it, but is sending up new plants (mom plant died)

Mary - are you sure the mother plant is dead? I thought a few of mine were as well, but I cut down below soil level and some are coming back. Yay!

Eloise - I have what I consider to be some of the standards... orinoco, dwarf cavendish, ice cream, basjoo (sort of!), gran nain, dwarf red, goldfinger, ornata purple, zebrina, ensete maurelii, musa lasiocarpa. Problem is, the winter of 2007 I got some of them mixed up so not sure which is which. LOL

The person that I wanted to send a banana to was a woman, I'm sure. And I believe she wanted something that wouldn't get huge. Pretty sure she was on GW and still expecting her to see this post. I've posted on a couple other forums but so far, nothing.

Dang, I feel bad I can't remember who it was. I can come up with tons of excuses though! Been busy, getting senile, email account cleared, menopause brain fog, lack of pottasium from non-productive banana plants. (Got fruit once... the freeze did'em in)

OK, I've checked. It wasn't me.

Someone had promised me a banana. I had to check the "potential trades" spreadsheet from 2008 to make sure who made the promise. I keep the spreadsheets because I don't remember anything these days!

yes the mother plant is dead, mushy but there are 3 pup around her and they are all doing well.

Kathy - as soon as I saw your name, before I even read the post I knew it was you! All our conversations came flooding back in my mind. I'm so sorry... and embarrassed! LOL If only I had taken the time to really think it through!

Anyway, as I said I have 5-16 off from work and will get it in the mail. Could you please email me your address? I had my son go look in the shop for the box you sent so I could get the addy but what luck, no box! LOL

Sent me an orange brug for postage???? You sent me a HUGE box full of orange and frosty pink! HUGE, I say! LOL
