Garden Event in London Ontario

Hi all,

Something unique is brewing in London! An Evening of Wine and Seeds (http://www.oevca.ca/wineseeds) on Thursday February 23 at the Aeolian Hall starts with the fun of a "Seedy Saturday" gardening event. Then we add an environmental conscience, sprinkle equal amounts of activism and awareness, mix with generous dollops of music, wine, and humour... and we end up with a room full of people who are ready to face the challenges of peak oil-- with smiles on their faces!

The organic wine-tasting session kicks off at 6:00 p.m. While everyone swishes, swirls and slurps, London's award-winning pianist Clark Bryan will entertain on one of the Aeolian's two concert grands. Gardeners will be trading seeds at the seed swap table. Others will be visiting the cash bar for wine and organic beer to sip while visiting the Green Marketplace-- a free exchange of eco-friendly goods and ideas.

At 7:00 p.m. we'll hear from three diverse and fascinating speakers who will show the connections among healthy gardens, healthy agriculture and healthy economies, especially as we enter the time of "peak oil" when global fossil fuel output starts to decline. Gardening Guru and anti-pesticide proponent Harry Jongerden presents "My Garden Doesn't Need a Magic Bullet"; Prof. Joe Cummins presents: "Terminator Corporations' Suicide Seeds"; and our very special guest Jack Santa-Barbara of the Sustainable Scale Project presents "Peak Oil and Food Localism".

Environmentalists are never a dreary bunch! An Evening of Wine and Seeds wraps up with the *GaSP Awards*-- a humorous look at the who's-who of London polluters. Raise a glass to our outstanding examples of ecological ignorance!

Tickets to An Evening of Wine and Seeds are $6.00 ($10.00 with wine tasting) and are available at the door and in advance from the Dundas Deli (Dundas at English, between Adelaide and Quebec). For more information call or e-mail Bev Wagar at 679-5511 / bev@mygreengarden.ca. Proceeds go to the Aeolian Hall Restoration Fund and the Old East Village Community Association .
