You will love it here, we are just starting to get some fall colors.

What parts of NS are you visiting? Which highways are you travelling on? I am off one of the highways, easy to find if you are on Route 6, the Sunrise Trail, e-mail me for further directions if you are going this way.

The Folly Mountains are going to be full peak I suspect by the time you get here. The Cabot trail is a must see. We have so many beautiful places here it would be hard for me to pick out just one place that you would have to go, it is all gorgeous.

The trees are just begining and unless we get a major storm they should still be on the trees when you come through.

It sounds as if you have a great fall vacation ahead for you and your hubby.
In my area (Halifax) the leaves have not begun the change of color yet. I guess the shortening amount of sunlight causes that to happen...and the days are certainly getting shorter here now. The reds and yellows and golds and pinks will soon be here :) The countryside will be amazing...and you will love it !!

Just outside of Halifax we're starting to see the odd tree here and there change colour. It's very subtle right now, but as Jean says, the days are shortening rapidly, and we should start seeing those great colours soon! We are blessed with rock maples in this area which can turn any fall colour all depending on the summer weather and rainfall amounts. I expect a lot of bright oranges and deep reds this year!!

I'm not sure what my hubby has up his sleeve, he's been to NS a few times but this is my first, so he sort of has 'a plan' I think. He is a photographer so I suspect there will be a lot of drive, drive, drive, STOP!, take pictures, drive some more... There was some mention of Cape Breton Island, and of course Peggy's Cove upon arrival. I understand the International Celtic Colours Festival is on, some of that might be fun to take in.
We are flying this time, maybe one day we'll head across the country in our Westfalia... some day...

If you're going to Cape Breton, there's a stretch of highway to look for between Antigonish and New Glascow that goes through some hills and has an "S" curve to it. That was always one of the best 'take your breath away' places for leaves - at least in my opinion!

It all depands on how much time you've got though... Despite being a fairly small province, there's a *ton* of good stuff to see in NS!

Well, in one weeks time we'll be winging our way out east, I can hardly wait! :)

If you can fit it in the Lighthouse route will give you a lot of pleasure and my advice would be to stay in B&B's , they make you feel like royalty!!! M

As of today, the colours still really aren't out. Again, just the odd tree here and there. I hope it changes just for you!!

I just drove back to Halifax from Fredericton, NB, yesterday. The colours were just starting to really pop along the St. John River valley, but it's still fairly muted around here.

Amazing what can happen just in a couple of days! The colours are starting to pop and be noticed. Still not at it's peak, but getting nice!!

I drove through the Annapolis Valley today on my way to the Halifax Airport to pick up my husband, and the trees are really starting to put on a display.Another few days and it will be amazing.

mora, we had a wonderful trip despite the rain (I'm still not over how WET your rain is! lol). The moment I stepped out of the airport I was struck with the thought "I could happily live here!" - that's never happened before.

Highway driving was so nice without some 18 wheeler or **idiot** in an SUV breathing down your neck, jockeying for position. I hope the curse of the speeding tailgater never reaches Nova Scotia!

Wish we'd had a lot more time to spend there...

And yes, we did like you. :)

Yes mora, we got to see a few pretty leaves, but with the overcast skies and rain they didn't look as brilliant as I'd hoped. None the less, they were beautiful, almost too much to take in!

I chronicaled our trip on a bit of paper from the hotel room, must have been pretty impressed with the food because I wrote in great detail where we ate and what we had. :)

We put on 2100kms in those few short days, did the Cabot Trail, stayed in Baddeck, Antigonish, Halifax & two nights in Indian Harbour. Got as far south as Lunenburg, and made a trip over to the Wolfville area, drove out to Cape Split. VERY COOL! I've never seen fields of cabbage before, and seeing the red soil out that way was amazing! We were getting pretty road weary on the last day. Wish we'd had more time... ahhh... that's the sign of a good vacation!

I remember the times I climbed Cape Split. The long walk up the mountain was worth it when I finally got to the top and saw all around me from the top. The birds were nesting at the time I was there and there were thousands of them. So beautiful to see all those thousands of sea birds in their nests in the crooks and crannies in the ciffs. Amazing sight.... and it felt like I could see forever from up there.
I also glad that you got to drive the Cabot Trail. I think it should be more well known...or maybe it's best kept a secret from the rest of the world...LOL

I hope you get to return to us when the weather is nicer and you can explore more of NS.
