Pineapple plants pupping, but no pineapples

I have three variegated banana plants that I bought over a year ago. They have been in the ground now over a year. They have done well, look healthy, and are about 2- 2 1/2 feet wide and tall.

I know it takes at least 18 months or 2 years for them to fruit, but these were a good size when planted, although I don't know how old they were. They get a good amount of sun. Over the last two months or so, I noticed all three are pupping. There has never been any fruit. Will they still produce fruit with pups attached?
