Just let the remaining stalk be, the plant will not produce fruit again, but it will produce off-shoots which can be divided and planted separately.....you're on your way to having a pineapple plantation. LOL Good luck.

Thank you. I had one last year that didn't fruit but just kind of quickly died in its spot after growing to a nice size with no sign as to why. I had figured that maybe it had reached it's end and died off, but it never pupped, so I was unsure of what to expect with this one. I have read what to look for in harvesting this fruit, but I fully expect that some critter will notice before I do as they are so often reported as doing.
