can a new aloe vera be grown from leaf??

strange question i know,

and i did do a search before posting this. but you see, my cat broke 2 leaves off my aloe vera. now the possible good thing is that he didnt break them at a half point if you know what i mean but the leaves came off at the base so there is no sap/gel/juice/blood oozing from them. (you will have to forgive me but i dont know what you call that liquid)

anyway if it is possible please let me know how to do this. the leaves are currently just sitting outside (no its not cold) i hope this is enough info etc and if you could give me some replies asap i would be grateful

I think the common consensus is no....aloes and agaves can not be propagated via leaf cuttings...

You will just have to wait for pups...

Webkat is correct, it can't be done by leaf unfortunately.

When using the Gel, I usually just take the entire leaf off the stem, either tearing or cutting it off as close to the stem as possible, these aren't the most delicate of plants, I wouldn't worry abt it. However, any softening, yellowing leaves are dying & /or rotting, so I'd remove them as completely as possible, they won't recover.

just watched a YT video on a similar topic, saying that you can't grow a new plant from the leaf. He has evidence from his pot that shows the leaves just kind of wither away after some time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hQ5DYE-NMI But I would say that for everyone who does have an aloe and want to really find out, try it, too!
