The large yellow-flowering plant is an Aeonium. Hard to say on species, as Linda indicated. Are the leaves soft like velvet?

What are you calling butterfly wings? I'm curious.

I believe what you're calling "firecracker plants", should be either 'Sticks on Fire' (their cultivar name) or Fire Sticks (one of their common names. Of course, I figured out what you meant, which is probably all that was necessary. Anywho...for folks down the road looking for information...there it is! =)

I've never seen a flowering Aeonium before, that is outrageous! Can't have 'em here, our marauding peccaries would swim a river of (4-letter word for sewage) to eat just one!

GS, believe it or not, I figured out the 4-letter word, but had to look up "peccaries". LOL Fun stuff!

Wow! Thanks for the show. I can't imagine being able to plant something like that around here. Even in the relative safety of my fenced yard are rabbits, wood rats and ground squirrels. I've lost a lot of plants in the process of learning what I can have where, and what I can't have at all, including a brief but laughable attempt with Aeoniums in a raised bed (I never dreamed peccaries could actually climb).

As for the firecracker plants I've heard them called that as well as sticks on fire and a few other names.

Roro are those all your plants?? I love the one on the 3rd row up from the bottom on the right,can you tell me what it is??

Okay, thanks, Kathi...the Kalanchoe you have is not Mother of Thousands (although many people call all plants similar to this by that common name). I don't believe I've ever heard it called butterfly wings, but if it is the one that looks pink...and has pink plantlets on the leaves, then it would be 'Pink Butterflies', the named variegate of Kalanchoe x houghtonii. Otherwise, you have the species (not named).

I believe you showed us when you first planted out this area. It sure has filled in nicely!! So colorful!!

All plants in the pix are mine except for 2... the one where you can see the sidewalk & the street and the next photo to right (has stone wall planting). Those two were taken on my dog walks. The rest of these pix are from the past...some of them still in my yard, but most not in bloom now.

The pic of the cream (sort of pink) blooms in the one third up & on the right is from Aeonium 'Kiwi'.

Yes ro it does have the pink plantlets on the leaves.

Yes that is the garden dh made after his brain surgery last spring.We dismantled the pond and turned it into this garden.Between the critters,and the blackbirds eating the fish it was more trouble than we wanted to deal with at this stage of life.

You should have seen our backyard last year,the darn skunks took it oover and dug it all up,almost made me cry everytime I looked at it.We had to go the chemical route to get rid of them,so it's coming back now,and we'll stay on top of it to keep the skunks at bay.First time in over 40 years we had to deal with them.
