Got any good mutilation pictures?
Comments (13)Great pics! I have mutilation pictures too! I've posted some of them here before. I get a kick out of taking these shots, and just gotta shake my head.... Most of these were taken in my own neighborhood. One neighbor is constantly hacking away at his trees - loves to limb them up to ridiculous heights and topped the birches. He limbs up ALL the trees, but it's particularly egregious on the conifers. Two of the 5 trees in this row have since toppled during storms. I think it's partly because they're too top heavy - These poor birches were topped about 4 years ago and are growing bushy mohawks - Another neighbor recently decided pollarding was the way to go: Who says that whorl-branching, central leader confiers can't be turned into a hedge? Comments (17)GS, I didn't know they could climb either! :O And I thought dealing with skunks or opossums was bad! Ha! Okay, thanks, Kathi...the Kalanchoe you have is not Mother of Thousands (although many people call all plants similar to this by that common name). I don't believe I've ever heard it called butterfly wings, but if it is the one that looks pink...and has pink plantlets on the leaves, then it would be 'Pink Butterflies', the named variegate of Kalanchoe x houghtonii. Otherwise, you have the species (not named). I believe you showed us when you first planted out this area. It sure has filled in nicely!! So colorful!! All plants in the pix are mine except for 2... the one where you can see the sidewalk & the street and the next photo to right (has stone wall planting). Those two were taken on my dog walks. The rest of these pix are from the past...some of them still in my yard, but most not in bloom now. The pic of the cream (sort of pink) blooms in the one third up & on the right is from Aeonium 'Kiwi'....See MoreMore pictures I've been too busy to post
Comments (10)You really do have so many beauties. Too many for just one favorite. I don't know if it is good or bad that things have slowed down. Good that you have more time to post and hopefully not as much garden work to do. Bad that the daylily season is done!...See MorePictures,i've got pictures, xmas cactus etc
Comments (11)Stush,yes that one with the seed pods is one of the ones i got from you.I don't do anything special to it. however the one i got from you called euphorbia lactea, croked,i kept hoping it would come back, but it was not to be.The other that says it's a stapelia gigantea,is finally getting it's first off shoot, which is good as i thought that was a goner as well. I lost the name of that one with the seed pods,it got knocked over early on and when dh picked it up he didn't pick up the name tag for it.Oh and i didn't pollinate it myself, that's all mother natures work. I hadn't planned to plant all the seeds from it,maybe just a couple to see what and how long it will take from seed to plant. Would you like me to send you one of the pods,if so,i need you to tell me when to cut them off,or do i just put a paper bag over them til they drop off?? Anyone know?? By the way the one with the pods bloomed for several months this year, every couple days there was a new bloom.Same with one of my echinopsis ,i thought that thing would never quit blooming this year.. Oh and for those of you that are "soil snobs"No offense meant,LOL i don't use those self mixed concoctions you all do,i use whatever i have on hand and add a little pearlite,i measure nothing.just throw it all in a bucket, mix it up and plant whatever i'm planting. I always tell my friends i follow Mother Nature guidelines!!!! Works for me and as long as it does,i won't change. Thanks to you all for the compliments,oh and by the way the post from last night were from my kindle,so Camelia i do know that is your name and not amelia. The preclinical grey wolf was supposed to be calif.grey wolf.I hate auto correct!!!
