A Trip to the Source: An addict's story:

We were lucky enough to be `invited' into the plastic houses of the Maloy's , otherwise known as the `source of our addiction'.

Andrew and Rhona have been on the present site for four years. The greenhouse was very derelict when they bought it, so weedy that they had to get a bobcat in to clear it out, all 2400 square metres of it. They replaced the roof with twin skin plastic which gives great light conditions for vriesea's. They provide no extra heat in the greenhouse apart from the sun. Here are some images to share our 'high' with:

The Maloy's do not sell direct to the public, but they will be selling at the new up and coming 'Auckland Flower Show' to be held at AucklandÂs Alexandra Park 20-23 November and at the February 'Fiesta'

Otherwise their usual outlet is via Peter & Jocelyn at Totara Waters for any Kiwis interested in getting some amazing Vriesea's. Sadly anyone from overseas would have to come to NZ and sort out exportation them selves, yes and good luck with that!!. Also note that Kiwi Vulcan, Kiwi Summer Dream and some of the plants in the images here are 'one offs' and will not to be available for sale for several years yet.
