Perennial rye is the fastest to germinate and grow, but in July those growth rates will be much reduced. Root growth is minimal in soil temps above 70 degrees, and stops around 77. Topgrowth also slows in summer, so growth rates won't be very fast regardless of the grass you plant.

Well, I've done what I said I would do... I bought more air plants... I'm still learning everyday by surfing but I am really enjoying these plants. We had our first snowfall the other day and for the last week the normal winter gray sky has been hanging around. But I get to come home everyday and see something green in my living room and kitchen. This is going to be so much better then last year. I now have a few different types of Ionathas, a Funckiana, a Paucifolia and a Capitata. This is way better then growing some of the other stuff I normally winter indoors. Most plants just require a drink once a week or less. These require much more attention (easy attention). I love summer because I can always do something in my garden every day. I love air plants cause I can always mist them every day. Creating work for myself and enjoying it. :-) In the summer what temperature would you wait for before taking them outdoors and sitting them in a tree? Do you have any problems with pests outside (to those up north)?

However my bigger problem right now is Soil Health. I have too little soil, and what I do have is thin, and with too little growing in it. ==>> i dont really know what this means.. as what i see growing.. sure seems happy enough .. even if they are weeds ... i grow in near pure yellow sand ... your soil .. black and full of humus.. is not anything near.. what i would call thin ... unless its a false topping ... if you want to reduce weeds.. then cover your soil.. with about 2 to 3 inches of settled mulch .. which means.. apply it 4 to 5 inches ... youll have to figure that part out ... but we.. I.. digress from the name that plant forum ... lol ken

Funny thing I've read so many times that Moro is the least favorite for taste of the Blood oranges , if it's the least I can only imagine what the best variety taste like . I have a Valencia and the Moro is just as sweet with just a little bit of tart perfect combination. Nancy now I know why your so hooked on citrus your home in Corona must have been paradise I can only imagine all those beautiful scents . My parents had a condo just outside Tampa and there was an orange grove not far from the condo , in March the scent coming from the grove was incredible that's how I became hooked . Nancy isn't always the case bump your flight up to the 5th lol. Brian
