Hey Pug..Beautiful! Are all posted TC in bloom now? If so, that is a mystery..The only answer I have, 'probably incorrect,' is soil has been kept very dry.
Same thing happened to my TC's in July..Temps 90's. They weren't watered, then soon after they were, blooms!

Nancy, the new growth on the Easter Cactus is deliciosa!

My Christmas Cactus is in full bloom right now....
however, the first wave of buds were knocked off the plant back in December, and this is an entirely new
set of buds to bloom - so it isn't much of a mystery. I watered and fertilized lightly all Winter.

Pug, I live in Alabama and all fifty of my Easter cactus are doing the same thing as yours. I don't understand it since they have been outside since our temperatures at night have been above freezing. Last year they bloomed but this year I'm getting new leaves. Maybe the buds will come later on, hopefully next month.

I remember yours Josh and they were beautiful.

Nancy!!!! My oh my! Look at the new RED growth of leaves. I never saw that before. That is different and amazing.

Toni, no actually I haven't been keeping it dry. I water all my TC's EC's the same...I try and water them when they're almost completely dry. I also fertilize mine all year. Of course a lot less in winter than when they're growing. I hope yours blooms again this summer!

Josh, Congrats on your CC blooming.Please post some pitures...love to see it!

Avondale, wow...you have a LOT of Easter Cactus...that must be a sight when most of them are in bloom. Glad to hear yours are doing the same thing. I sure hope I get some blooms even if its after Easter...this was given to me as a NOID...so I have no idea what the bloom color will be.

my old fashon cc has lots of flowers on it right now..
hoping to repot that this spring(kinda worried about repotting it, but it has to be done this year)
I am hoping to find some new easter cactus this year...I am going to try HD..they had some last year, after easter...

Hi Linda, Thanks! I'm so sorry to say that is NOT the Easter cactus you sent me...that one didn't make it...so sorry! I did manage to take a few small cuttings, but its much, much smaller now...

The one in the picture a friend sent me last fall/winter...NO idea yet what the bloom colors will be? She knew that Easter cactus around here are very hard to come by!

Hope you find some nice ones in your area. Please post pictures if you do!

As a matter of interest. I stay in New Zealand and are approaching fall at the moment. My Thanksgiving cactus is also budding and will be in bloom within the next few days. Is'nt it very interesting to see that it blooms at the same time but in different seasons and at the opposite sides and halves of the earth?

Must be contagious...mine also came up with blooms again, after a great December performance.

Toni, my plants aren't outside - I just take pics outside.
You are correct...that's a sweatshirt I was wearing. The sky was grey and the temps in the 60F's.
My plants won't stay outside until the end of May.

Inger..your flowers look different than the average holiday cactus..I love the way the petals sway.
They remind me of a woman, donned in an evening gown, slowly twirling. lol.

Josh. End of May..that's about the time my plants go outside, too. A big job, but can't wait.

Pug, you carry plants in and out within weeks? That is not something I'd look foreward doing. It takes a few days to bring out, a couple weeks to haul back in. lol.
