Love these guys bringing spring to life.

From this Graptosedum you've seen umteen times

we have more yellow joy:

^ That would be the same plant that is variegated in warmer weather:

^ In the above shot, the gray-hued Grapto- in the lower-right corner produces my favorite spring surprise with red.

And the smaller, less impressive gray Grapto- in the upper-right in the same shot gives us white and very subtle pink.

OH! Rosemarie, I meant to include, just when I said somebody wouldn't be blooming for me, I thought... a stalk coming up.

They are so beautiful.
I have some Lewisias, just hoping they made it thru winter here. Still burried under some snow leftovers...Rina

Julia, I honestly don't pay any attention to bud count on anything on the driveway side slope and that is where Watermelon Luminosity is planted. So I actually had to go out and count blooms and bud scares. Not even twelve. More like nine. But it is REALLY pretty, much prettier than the picture shows. As to HOT TAMALES AND RED HOTS, I LOVE it. I think it is even much nicer looking than it shows in the picture on the Rice's website and I thought it was great looking there. I wanted it since I first saw it in the year of introduction. I planted mine in the fall so have no reason to cut off scapes as the plant has settled in nicely. Kay, thanks. I think HOT TAMALES AND RED HOTS looks even better in person than any picture can show. This is going to be a very favorite daylily of mine. I can tell!

Your post had me curious if Munson did have any late bloomers. I like Munson's too :-). Here is what I found by doing a search on the AHS database. Not sure if these are truly lates for zone 5. Surprised to see only 6 came up Not alot of options. Carved Cameo (MUNSON-I., 1971) height 26", bloom 4.5", season La, Rebloom, Evergreen, Diploid, Flesh pink self with cream green throat. (SLEEPING BEAUTY X SATIN GLASS) Celebration (MUNSON-R.W., 1962) height 38", season La, Evergreen, Diploid, Blend of ivory cream flushed pink with chartreuse throat. Gossamer Light (MUNSON-R.W., 1983) height 28", bloom 6", season La, Rebloom, Evergreen, Tetraploid, Fragrant, Lemon cream blend with yellow throat. (LILAC SNOW X TUSCAWILLA) Soliloquy (MUNSON-R.W., 1959) height 42", season La, Evergreen, Diploid, Melon pink self with green gold throat. Maryl - Vivacious Spirit does struggle here. I had it planted in another place, and it did not grow well or bloom for two years. Now that it's planted right next to the house, it did multiply. But it seems like a very wimpy plant. Everything You Desire looks much lighter in the sun. It looks quite dark in my shade photos. While cranberry is dark, rose is not. Put them together and you get the color of Everything You Desire. Brad - I'm sure you're right about insurance being a factor in my mother's discharge from the hospital before she is ready to go. We have only about 10 days of rehab left that Medicare will fully cover. Debra

I hope they're fine, Rina! Our rainfall would murder them here, so my little one is just in that pot. Haven't seen many for sale around here, though. I can hope that'll change. The flowers are perfect.

Beautiful blooms, Colleen! I love the Lewisia.

Oh, I know someone who'd like to try growing Dyckia from seed. Starts with an h, ends with zrobo. You have a package heading your way, by the way.

Ah, he would, would he? I'll make a mental note. Haven't done it before, but I would think I can pull it off just fine. I've read enough photo-filled instructions.

Super excited, and what a nice thing; thank you so much. I'll be noting an address when it comes, for a refund. And just so I could plan to intercept the mail from an old/ill family member who has a tendency to take my mail--can I ask, sent out about yesterday, today? I plan for things if I can. :)
