O got to 'Scoot'!

Dennis came home to trim hedges today and said..."Well are you going to break this thing in or not?" I scooted along behind him raking up weeds we pulled and the branches he trimmed. I then Scooted over to my side bed, weeded, watered and trimmed some more. It was fun getting about on my new Scoot! But I have to tell you, my legs sure did get a workout! I can feel the muscles in my thighs and calves tonight. But I didn't fall down and felt very comfortable Scooting along! Can't wait to get it out tomorrow! vrooomm!

Cindee, what a great toy for you! I had one a while back but it was too heavy and too hard to get up and down from. I am really looking forward to being able to bend at least one of my knees enough to get up and down easily. I have a rocker stool that works fine but sometimes I Could not get down to sit on it. I have long legs so it was scary just to let myself fall into it, then I needed a walking stick to pull myself up!

My favorite new toy is Nordic ski-walking poles. They are so wonderful to walk with...they take 40% of your weight on to the poles and your upper body. I have gone out every day on them but one of my knees was fussy today so decided to give it a day to rest.

Isn't it great to be finding things you CAN do now instead of those you can"t!? When do you think you will have the other hip done?

How excellent, Cindee! You simply must have Dennis get a picture of you on your Scoot! I can just imagine you zooming all over the place, wearing gardening gloves and holding a set of clippers in your hand, taming the Florida greenery! I'm so happy for you! Just take it easy, and that's a Grandma Order! Hehe!

Today, with the weather the way it is, I feel like I need ALL my bones replaced! Winter and Lupus do not go well together! I feel terribly brittle, as if everything were on the verge of breaking! I need warmer weather! Hurry up and get here, Spring!

Lizalily, both you and Cindee are lucky that you can have your painful parts replaced... you will be able to do so much more after it's all said and done! You guys are gonna leave me in the dust! :-)

mr. chokeheart im guessing your friends call you "mya".. i am interested in finding some s. divinorum seedstock(or clones, if you are in my area).. might you be able to accomidate me?? i have no salvia seedstock to trade to you, BUT, i do possess seedstock from a "companion" plant that will repel spider mites and aphids, within about a 12 foot radius(small plant), and also have some good quality indica strains(seedstock) for trade.. thanks for your time, kip.. jeff

Glad that it wasn't a bang on the driver's door, girl! Not long after I got this car, I thought that I went into an intersection on a green ... and a car that came through three lanes hit on the driver's side ... but back at the back tire area. I was ... substantially ... very substantially ... thankful! It seemed to be the general concensus that I'd run a red light ... but I figure that he ran a yellow, as when my car had been turned around about 180 degrees - there, staring at me through the windsheld, was a green light, in the same direction that I'd been travelling ... and if I'd run a red light, it should have been red! Anyway - I also like to pick spaces in parking lots where I can drive out (but must confess to being a bit too lazy/(mis-guided?) to back into empty spaces). I hear that a bit of a longer walk is good for one's constitution? By the way ... did you say that the grandkid is wanting a car? Hhm-mm-mm-m! Hope that the rest of your weekend goes better. I, too, value my wheels ... and one needs be extra careful around here, for if one in 70s or higher is in a fender-bender or two, one is liable to get a letter from the Ministry of Transportation to say that they are cancelling one's driving permit. We have a discussion session of about an hour and a half with about a dozen others, with a test of knowledge and signs, with some being selected for a driving test, every two years after age 80. ole joyful P.S. As I was fairly sure that there were still quite a few good miles in that little 20-year-old Mazda that I'd bought only a few months earlier, after the accident I chose to repair it, at a cost larger than I'd paid for it ... partly for environmental reasons, as it costs a great deal of scarce and precious fuel to dig iron ore from the ground, smelt it, then carry it through all of the manufacturing operations ... plus add quite a lot of petroleum-based plastic, to build a new one, but repair is mainly a lot of work. Goo deal! Mine were free : ^D, My DSIL had a very big tree and no one eats them. here is the recipe I used FIG PRESERVES (makes 2 1/2 pts) 2 lbs figs, unpeeled 3 cups granulated sugar 1 cup water 1/2 lemons, sliced thin Prep Time: 25 mins Total Time: 1 1/2 hrs 1 Wash figs gently in cold water. 2 Place in a large bowl, fill with cool water and soak for 20 minutes. 3 Make a syrup by boiling the sugar and water together in a large saucepan. 4 When syrup is clear and just thick, around 15 minutes add figs and lemon slices. 5 Bring to a boil over high heat. 6 Boil hard 1 minute. 7 Lower heat and simmer for 30 minutes. 8 Remove from heat. 9 Carefully pour into a blender and pulse to grind figs and lemon slices. 10 You may want to cook down for 10 or 15 more minutes to desired thickness. 11 Ladle into clean hot sterile jars and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes. http://www.food.com/recipe/fig-preserves-69138 I don't do a water bath, never have, I hope they will keep without one.

We've moved to Hays,KS. It's on I-70 so we should see lots of people as they travel to and fro. It's also where our DD lives so it's great to be able to see Camryn almost daily. Liza, one thing I really like about the Scoot is that the seat adjusts. I have long legs too and it is so easy to get up and down witht he seat raised all the way. If I need to set lower I just turn the seat a few times to lower it. The ski poles soung great. I am glad they help you get around!

No more pics of me in the garden Jodi-I look worse than the weeds! Good thing it is raining today or I would be out toddling around!

Don't be silly, Cindee! You're gorgeous, and you know it! :-)

I should think about getting one of those scoots... it sure would be nice to be able to "park it" while gardening! Bending over constantly really takes its toll on your shoulders and back... eventually, I'd like to have more raised beds... those are a lot easier to work in!

The red one is rather spiffy! But the green kind of reminds me of a John Deere tractor... they're both nice! Thanks for the link, Cindee... I'm still looking at all that orchid site has to offer! Man, do they have the varieties!
