maggie I wouldn't stop the treadmill completely but I would make sure you use the settings that change it up so that you are not going the same pace all the time. Go up hill and fast and slow etc. Also I would vary your workout and use other machines. Stair steppers seem to have gotten a lot better and appear to be real climbers now . Also elliptical is another choice and the cycling classes. Variety is the spice of life. But...most important do not leave off weight training ! Make sure you lift weights. That is the key to no injuries. c

I looked at them ~ 3 years ago and decided to go with product from environmentallights/ photonier/ superbrightleds/ nora lighting. The connectors are relatively fragile compared with the standard 3 prong wire plugs given the size. The invisiled tape lights are flexible but should never be treated like rope/ nylon string. These are lights that you don't keep fiddling with after installation. There are more options available today (12V/ 24V DC and 120V AC). You may find the following discussion thread helpful. I live in the Bay Area - have since 1986, so I was here for Loma Prieta, and numerous small earthquakes. They've taken some getting used to, but I've made sure we have our "kit" stocked and prepared. Especially after the Gulf States' storms and aftermaths, I think it's prudent to be prepared for at least a week of "no services".... Anyway, I've read most of Laurie King's books, the ones that I can find - the series started with "The Beekeeper's Apprentice", and I've found them pretty good. While the concept that Holmes might've married so late, and to someone so much younger seems a bit of a stretch, King makes the stories interesting, and the characters consistent. She addresses Holmes' previous attachments, or lack thereof, and makes some plausible rationales. The books also cover a lot of geographical territory, and adds some historical interest as well. There's another book that was prescient in discussing the effects on earthquakes and levees - "A Dangerous Place" by Marc Reisner. (He also wrote "Cadillac Desert", which discussed the development of the American West and the effect on water use.) Considering the current focus on earthquakes, I'm sure Mr. Reisner, if he were still alive, would be feeling pretty vindicated... take care! litlbit

The problems with ice are firstly that with direct application to the burn it can cause frostbite, and secondly that it can adhere to the damaged tissue. Cool water is often recommended, so if you're ice is melty enough that what's touching your skin is the cool water, and especially if you have some cloth between it and your skin, it should be okay. If the skin is more visibly damaged than just pink (i.e., very red, blistered, broken, peeling, etc.), I wouldn't use any foodstuffs on it. Infected burn is a lot worse than burn. I've read that what cooling does is actually stop the damage from increasing. I'm so sorry that your wonderful new ovens are bringing you new burns! Perhaps some new oven mitts while you're learning the topology? So you'll have some that aren't in the wash at all times?
