Little white hairs on my crassula?

A little under a month ago, I was at a local store that has a small amount of succulents (that aren't cared for all that well, as it's not a nursery) and came across a couple little plants that had been pulled out their pot, probably by someone's dumb dog. The answer of a woman working there was to toss them in the garbage, and instead I have them in a tiny red pot. I think they appear to be a type of crassula clavata... I may be mistaken. In the past week, they've begun to develop a few tiny white hairs in their centers. I'm wondering, is this just typical or actually an indication of something?

In the photo here they're on the right, tipped in pink. The cute crassula (I think) to the left of it I haven't yet IDed.
