Mick...nice banana plant. How long has it been in that
tiny pot? When I brought mine in, I realized later that I
could have left it out! Anyway, It has grown two more
leaves since Oct. and I'm so happy. Perhaps I will leave
it in the pot for the deck?? I know for sure that I want
mooooore!!

It's been in tha pot for a while and grew a few more leaves since then, but I cut the leaves off, just so I can get it up the stair from the basement and vice versa

Nice setup and a great away to grow seeds with the lower one. Red Nana?? It should be closer to the light if it is?

It gets light from the windows in the basement. I am thinking of hanging a light over a beam for the nana, but then if it grows I won't be able to get it upstairs

I got the shelves from Lowes with a xmas gift cert that I had. The nana is a red abyssinian

My "hardy" nana is buried, somewhere, never to be seen again so I have to start over.

And that one sure is pretty.

I'm still looking for that freak texas bonnet plant.

Nah...it aint hardy. It's just an ornamental type that needs to be dug up at the first sign of frost.

I picked up a similar shelving system on amazon, it came with wheels, which helps ALOT.

Hey Mick, what are you going to do with a big old banana tree come fall? Do you start over or what? I'd be kicked out if I add one more large plant to our homescape. I don't have a big ole basement to store things in. BTW, still working on the computer stuff. Folks over in That Homesite, Computer Help, have been just that.

I have some grow shelves like yours. I had problems with smaller pots on them tipping over and dh had the idea of getting some of those plastic sheets that go over the florescent lights (HD has them) he cut them to size on his table saw to line the shelves with. The light can still go through them a little and now the pots stay put.

Patience my friend LOL..I seen on the ws forum..They lines the shelves with foil stuff. It makes the grow lights bounce back on the plants. It was a girlsgirl that posted it last year I believe...Neat set up!

Mick, I think what she's talking about are those plastic panels you can buy at any hardware store that are semi-translucent. They are used in ceiling mounted florescent light fixtures to diffuse the light. Every office in town probably has them. Some people might have them in their kitchens if the builder put in the four foot flour. tube lights.

However, when I ordered my rolling Metro rack like yours, it came with thin plastic liners for the shelves. I've attached a link to a similar product.
