Jade Plant Branches Rotting but Roots are Fine

I inherited my moms 30+ year old jade plant when she passed away and it has been doing fine until last month when I noticed one of the branches wilting/dying. I cut it off and the inside was black. I cut the branch down to where was healthy and let it be. I haven't watered it since because I figured it may be root rot and I should let it dry out and hope for the best. Yesterday I found one more branch that was rotting... and part of it felt totally hollow on the inside. I did the same thing, cutting it back until the branch appeared healthy, and I checked the roots of the plant to check for root rot. There isn't any... It actually very dry, and none of it appears to be rotting.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I will be sad to see it go, it has a lot of sentimental value to me.
