Beware of ticks--a cautionary tale

I have been around ticks all my life, but never picked up anything. I've always done tick checks, showered, etc, after coming in. And I use Deep Woods Off when out. But, a tick got past my inspections/shower and took up residence for maybe 12 hours at the most. And Monday evening, a red ring developed around the tick bite site indicating Lyme's Disease. Yesterday I went to the doctor and am now on doxycycline. This should keep me from developing any of the side effects of the disease. So far, I feel fine, but my understaning is that the problems develop several months after an untreated bite. So . . . be vigilant!

And if you do get bit by a tick, save the little dude so you can have it tested for disease--I flushed this one down the toilet.
