Nice Jelly Bean Plant!! Mine isn't black , mine has some red color, but I also have it outside in full sun 8 hours a day. But its up to you, if you want to move it, but I like that color! It doesn't look sunburned to me...Here is mine. Pretty Plant...

I can't help with any blackened advice, but I have a sedum-type plant similar to your photo.

My houseplant grows (flops!) upward against my window, then falls over and grows upward again. It's so untidy!! I'm guessing I've got a groundcover type of sedum, so I'm stuck with it crawling and flopping... but your photo seems to stay upright. Any suggestions/observations?

Hey, Pug... I like the color on your sedum. I have a little one that has the same color like yours. That one is a "dropping" (?) of this big one. Sorry... what I meant is that this big one dropped a "leaf" onto another pot and then that leaf grows into a plant. The whole thing stays outside all the time and it has red color like yours. Also, the leaves look compact, not like the one above.
I think I will continue leaving this sedum outside and see if it will turn red or not.

Pug: I have another sedum. The leaves on this one don't look like "jelly". Can you help me ID? Thank you. Here's pic.

Waggingtail: the longest branches of my sedum seem to behave like what you said - flop and then grow upwards. I help them stay upwards by tieing them to bamboo sticks, but the shorter branches just grow upwards by themselves. Maybe they're not "old" enough to flop, LOL!!!

The green above picture in the 'Jelly Green' (common name)
Sedum. (Yel.Flowers) There is also one called
Christmas cheer' rubrotinctum the red and green one in the picture. Now the first one I believe to be the same, or may be a hybrid. I don't how much water it is getting and probably too much, and not enough sun, it is stretched. I grow mine in the ground and they do look like the second one in the pot which is a lovely plant. They last just about 5 years before they need to be restarted or they will look ragged. The less water they get the better they will look and grow more compact with better color. They must have a very fast draining soil. Is it really black or just a deep maroon? this is an important question. Is there peet moss in the soil? What state do you live? What kind of soil. The other two species are perfectly grown and to be envied. I know this is blunt, but honest. I really want to know more about the 1st plant, it is very interesting.

good at IDing them or know some of their names :o( all I know is I LOVE them, LOL...Norma on the other hand is an expert! I would go with what she says...Good Luck!

Xuan and Pug, they're beautiful..wish my poor little specimens looks so nice, so red, so compact..
Xuan, the coloring on yours is normal..don't change a thing..some Sedums/JB's are darker than others..sunlight has a lot to do with it, too.
There's something said for rain, too, as long as it's not an everyday thing..

Norma, my Sedum/JB is Christmas Cheer/Rubro, yet looks nothing like the two above.. :( Not enough light in IL.. Toni

Back to the plant in the first photo: the plant enjoyed the same growing environment with the plant in the third photo - on the top shelf in my "greenhouse", i.e. they both enjoyed the same bright light, same watering. But the "stretched" one was planted in soil-less mix, and the other planted in a mix of potting soil+perlite.
Then I brought the "stretched" one indoors for display at my east-facing windowsill, it being watered once weekly. Then three weeks ago, I decided to take it outside onto my east-facing porch and it started to look blacken... maybe not real black but very very dark brownish-green.
Here's a pic of my humble collection, in the greenhouse.

Here's a pic of the one I suspected to be the "baby" of the plant in the first photo, being kept outdoors. This one looks like that of Pug's in the 2nd photo above. Maybe I'm wrong?!

Very Cool Xuan, amazing the color changes that happen to some Jades/Succulents when they go outside in sunlight and sometimes cooler weather combo... Very Nice!!
