"The cat isn't fixed and he sprays everywhere." Is this what you saw (the spraying) or what you were told. I have four male cats (3 outdoor) all of whom spray whilst outside, but do NOT spray indoors. If they go in the house, they use the box like gentlemen. Sadly, IMHO, if the owner were looking for him, you would see some activity on his/her part. All of the people know of the cat, etc., but the correct number isn't on the collar? Something is rotten in Denmark. Poor cat. The distant neighbor is feeding him and in touch with the owner, yet the owner hasn't come to get his/her pet? WTH? People who own an animal then let them loose (for whatever reason) in the hopes someone else will take them in should be strung up. I would call the no-kill shelter if you're not planning to take him in. Is there really such a thing as a no-kill shelter anymore, and are there even any open spots left? We always end up taking in the ones when they show up. Pretty much how we've gotten all but 1 of our fleet over the years. This last one, "Miles" was a big project. Besides the behavioral issue toward the dogs, which we were able to overcome, he was a mess. We had to invest some $$$ to get him "house ready", neutered, shots, shaved (matted beyond belief), but he has turned into the most loyal well loved member of our gang. It has now been over a year and we are so happy we took him in. Funny thing, he is such a people cat (or I should say DH cat) as he follows DH everywhere. Shower, out to the pool, back and forth from his office to other rooms of our home. He sleeps between us on the bed every night. Love him to pieces. I hope someone with a heart takes this poor cat home and gives him the proper care. Too bad you live so far, or I'd come and get him from you. Sad that none of these people you've talked to has bothered to give this guy half a chance of a proper life.

I needed a fenced area for my dogs, but we didn't really want to keep them isolated in a pen or fence the whole yard. Our property backs up to a field and woods and we didn't want to break up the open view in the back. Our solution was to fence part of the yard in a sort of a courtyard look. We fenced from the back corners of the house out about 35 feet and then across the back, which is about 100 feet. It encompasses our patio and the surrounding garden and I'm working on gardens around the outside of the fence to make it blend in with the rest of the yard better. I only have to open the door to let them out and they can be with us outside rather than being penned up away from us, yet the cost was fairly reasonable and it looks really nice.

I am not sure what you mean, but we have a crate/cage for our lab which she loves as it it like her home. I am all for a dog having a place to go for training purposes and just for containment when you are not able to care for them. Of course they all need to be exercised, but sometimes it is best for their health and safety to have a more confined space. If we let our dog run on own too much she would eat all the rabbit, mole and chipmunk poop there was to find lol... As it is right now she is basically confined to her crate till November because of knee surgery for tripping in a mole hole while chasing a ball. :( We learned our lesson there. Shes only a year old. Dogs don’t just pee “anyway”. That is nothing more than the excuse of a lazy owner. Dogs pee when they signal that they need to go and are ignored or when they are physically unable to hold it. I hope they aren’t just drawing the conclusion that it’s because she’s old as well. There are lots of reasons as to why a female dog might be incontinent, like a bladder infection or a problem stemming from when she was spayed. Heck, our dog had a problem with incontinence an it ended up being because of the cr*ppy prescription food the Vet wanted her on. It started shortly after we started feeding it to her for some tummy problems and it stopped immediately when I chose to stop feeding it to her. These owners need to step up to the plate and take care of the old girl the way she deserves to be cared for. Scenarios like this always baffle me. I mean, why have an animal if you don’t value it’s companionship and/or enjoy taking care of it? Nicole, I hope you don’t step back and let the owners care for their dog. She obviously needs a compassionate advocate who can speak for her and gently encourage the owners to do better.
