I got the two biggest ones as six month olds, but they started to loss their leaves pretty much as soon as I got them. The one I've had for longer has grown new branches and leaves very low down on the caudex. I'm not sure I want it to have branches that far down does anyone have any ideas?

Also are adenium somalense seeds bigger then obesum seeds? I think my supplier might have mixed up the labels on some seeds she sent me.

Lady ee...those are some super cute Adeniums. I rarely have good luck growing from seeds, but If I ever get a seed pod from my large adenium...I might give it a try.Thanks for posting.

Thanks :) The weird thing is, as its getting warmer, less seeds in every batch are germinating... very strange. Hmmmm. Good luck, how cool would it be to grow seeds from you own plant! Would love to see a pic of your big fella if possible :p.

Hi lady ee...Here is my Desert Rose. I've had a couple of seed pods before...but wasn't sure "if" it got pollinated and never did anything with it. Maybe I will this time if I get one or two?

To the best of my recollection, I think I've had it appx. 5 years give or take. That was before I started keeping a log book of all my plants. I bought it in a 6" pot? Now its in an 18" pot. If I decide to change the pot down the road...I don't want to go bigger...its waaaay too heavy as it is right now.

I've been wondering that myself blutarski. I want to keep them all, I just keep feeling like I need more. I guess I'll just see how winter goes and later on which ones I like the best... Ummm, hmmm. Hard question. Yeah I thought if I started cutting things off it might start looking horrible and probably grow back anyway... Norma, yes they are beautiful, I've totally fallen for mine in the approximately four months I've been growing them. Sometimes I like to just look at them really closely and love them heehee. Those look pretty amazing! I am growing some now too. I have 8 going now and they are about 2 months old now. And I actually have a question...

Some of the leaves are kind of drying out/getting brownish...any idea what the problem is? I water them pretty frequently, as they like moist when they are first starting off, but have slowed down a little because some are 3-4 inches tall now.

Any ideas from the expert would be great!

Yes apacholek, I am soooo pleased with them! I'm not an expert either, I think I've been growing these for about 4 months give or take? But I've had leaves going brown at the ends and have just nipped them off! Again I am not expert so hmmm... but they don't suffer in my experience in fact some have little branch now where i lopped the leaves off! So no idea but that is what I have been doing, Good luck :)

Another thing, I suddenly noticed that the little rocks I put around my adenium where hiding.... a quite fat little caudex!!! Yay can't believe I didn't notice! Have a look!

great looking DR's lady ee, nice caudex on them. I was wondering, did you prune your adeniums all the while to develop all those branches or did they just come naturally? if so, about what month did you start? i have a few seedlings and they're almost 2 months and would like them to develop as nicely as yours (or as close to it). =)

Heehee, the first new pic is the same hideous Adenium that in the earlier pics I 'found' its caudex! (Just shows that even if you think a seedling is ugly now, it may turn into something beautiful like this! Although I didn't think it was ugly at the time!)I think I chopped the top of it the next day after the pic was taken. My Adeniums seem to have branched with out any help but I think I took the top off most when they where about 2-3 months old, but only did about six to try and judge what was the best option, (to chop or not).

As for my results, I'd say that the side branches grow faster and larger if you remove the middle one and when they are the age mine are they look nicer because they are more even. I will try and find some pics that show this. In summer I watered them everyday as they dried out everyday (I had them in full outdoor sun), and fertilized them with liquid cacti and succulent food once a week. Otherwise I don't know what made them branch, but the ones I raise from seed myself often branch quite early. Please remember that although I have done a lot of online research into growing Adeniums my oldest is just over a year old so I am no expert!

For myself. I gernimated these on April 25 (2 months and one day) These pictures taken today June 26.
I bought 35 differents kinds of seeds from ThaiLand (most of them I bought double and exotic colors, the colors we don't see here in the US)and each color I sow 5 seeds and some I got 100% and some only 3-4 babies come up. I also did another batch a month later and total I got 120 babies.

Lady, no, that wasn't a bloom from Babies DR. That was a bloom cutting from the crown of thorn.

Me too, can't wait to see they bloom. I just wonder where do you live (to see your climate). These are slow grow, so it takes forever for them to get big. Sometimes I think they are testing my patient. Marie

Thank you I'll check out the sites. I bought an Adenium Arabicum 'Saudi' this past spring and i've become obsessed. I recently ordered 3 Adenium Obesums on ebay. I am want to have some parent stock but I believe all mine are seedlings. the Obesums I have, I dont know what color they will flower and they are only about 8"-10" my A.Arabicum is about 3 1/2 ". I recently ordered some Adenium Obesums 'Lucknirun' seeds from someone in Naples,Fl. I bought 15 and sowed them yesterday (9/5/15) so we will see if I have any luck with germination. I plan on purchasing and sowing around 100 seeds come spring but I need to figure out where to get my seeds from. I don't want to have to wait from a source over seas if I don't have too. And if I do I am looking for a very reliable source . I am originally from Florida. I went back there this summer and they are a very popular plant there. You can find them at all the nurseries and places that supply plants pretty much. Here in Sacramento I have only seen them at the cactus and succulent society sales. That's where I got my first Adenium Arabicum 'Saudi'. I also just ordered a multiflorum and another Arabicum from Out of Africa and hope to get those this week, after the holiday sometime. thanks for all the links!

Anytime, love helping out. By the way be careful on Ebay. Many sellers just want to sell more plants and they photo shop the colors to make them more appealing and draw more customers in. If the colors look too vivid and not realistic then it's probably fake, and a bit of research will save you a lot of money.

That's not to say that there aren't legitimate sellers on Ebay, but you just have to be cautious.
