The Light Shines Through

Inspired by Stephania's recent post Dusk till Dawn, I thought I would post a little collection of photos illustrating one feature of Bromeliads that I find intriguing. While not strictly a scientific or educational post, it could be considered artistic expression.

Many Bromeliads have a translucent quality to their leaves, revealing an aspect of our plants that we do not normally notice.

An appropriately named Vriesea After Glow, glowing in the morning sun.

Neoregelia Exotica Velvet hybrid comes alive midmorning.

Alcantarea vinicolor loving the full sun.

Bands on the spiny Aechmea orlandiana stand out during early afternoon.

And my favorite, Vriesea fosteriana rubra radiates during an evening sun set.

There must be many more aspects of these amazing plants we do not pick up on first glance...why not capture some on camera, and share a little more Bromeliad art.
