OT, sorta kinda, I need an English to Spanish translation please.

I hope someone can please help me out...I need an English to Spanish translation please.

I'm not always content with BabelFish because things get lost in translations (as and example "kids" can become small children or baby goats ;-O )

This is what I need translated into Spanish:

Mixed Tomato Seed

Sow seeds 1/4" deep, germination in 7 - 10 days, transplant seedlings one meter apart, stake plants as needed. Mulch ground under plants, water as needed. About 65 - 80 days to maturity. Please save seeds from only the healthiest and most fruitful plants.

I ask for help with this translation because these packets are going to a rural village in the Southern Hemisphere where Spanish is the primary language.

What I can put together from my high school Spanish days:

Mezcla de semilla de tomate

Siembre las semillas 1/4" de profundidad, en la germinaciÃ³n de 7 a 10 dÃas; las plÃ¡ntulas de trasplante un metro de separaciÃ³n, apoyar cuando sea necesario. Mantillo de tierra debajo de las plantas, y dar agua segÃºn sea necesario. Aproximadamente el 65-80 dÃas a la madurez. Por favor, guarde semillas de sÃ³lo los mÃ¡s saludables y las plantas mÃ¡s fructÃferas.

Hope this helps ... but hope more that someone who really speaks the language comes along.

Indeed I have requested the J.L. Hudson catalog, along with a myriad of others. Actually, it was recommended by someone else that I should get it. I have been hovering around Central Florida Farms and A&B Tropicals, too. Some of these places are just too expensive for my pocketbook, though. I just get lucky sometimes by browsing around the local nurseries in OKC. Every now and then they come up with something unusual in the greenhouse that can be grown outside as well. I have some friends in the horticultural world who own commercially run nurseries that I check in and out with occasionally, too, and I can always got to the Botanical Gardens sale in April-May. Sometimes they have things that no one else has any idea what they are looking at. That doesn't mean they won't buy it just for the sake of buying it, though, so I still have to be willing to just kind of slide thru and in front of someone and say, "oh, just look at that......wouldn't you know I've been trying to find that for THE longest time!" (in my best throaty Valley Girl voice) and snatch it up quick! One look at the little old woman, and they back off. They have some of my old friend, Kathlyn Calvert's begonias growing there in the greenhouse. She grew such wonderful plants. I did a piece on her in The Begonian many years ago. Another friend, now deceased, did the photos. She took the Nationals in Dallas, the first year they were held outside of California ever in begonia history. Speaking of California restrictions, I really think they'd like to recede from the states altogether; quite a different breed there. Never been there; never WANT to go there. Have never wanted to go West. Always want to go East. Love Boston, the Northeast, the Eastern seaboard, and the gulf. Nothin' but young whippersnappers and upstarts West of here. I'd love to life on the gulf coast, but I would have to build underground, with enough room to move my plants indoors during a hurricane, and enough storage for food & water to last a substantial length of time during blackouts and water interruption. In 1977 we installed very dark wood cabinets in an old lake house we were remodeling to be a year-round residence. I loved them for a lot of years, but by 2001, when we decided to tear down and rebuild on the same lot, I simply couldn't do a dark wood kitchen again! I struggled for weeks until I saw a white kitchen I loved. I'd never considered paint: "Wood should be seen!" but we did the white kitchen and loved it. We moved in 2008 and rebuilt. I would have reproduced exactly the 2001 kitchen if I could have, but neither the cabinets nor the countertops were available. I realized I wasn't tired of white, so we did a different white, and added a charcoal island. The two-tone look may be outdated quickly, but this kitchen is for ME, not for some style guru. Follow your heart! And realize that you'll always be second-guessing . . . because there are so many truly lovely choices out there!

Mama, Good to see you also. That kitchen in her newest house looks like it's migrating toward the OTK, but with big industrial style light fixtures, to fill those high ceilings. Not a crayon-box color in sight, yes? Vesfl - cdb is one of my favorite colors ! I planted two this fall , but didn't get photos . I also planted a ville d Lyon as well and it's settling in . Yours look great !! wirosarian gosh that gate looks so welcoming with the clematis! Beautiful! Sjn- I second brushwood ! Also bluestone has great sales . Don't pay full price on Clem's because they will almost always go half price before spring . Great value ! And another fantastic one is silver star vinery. The size of her plants was fabulous! Marlorena - I'm glad you liked mine! I really wish I could find an ID on the one . It was on clearance because it had no tag and any photo search I have done hasn't turned up a match. Rosy lady your urn idea is a great one! Never would have thought of that . I had saved this photo to remind myself to try this, maybe you'll like it too . I got one of these tubs for 5$!! At a yard sale so I think I may do this . Another no id clearance This was labeled comptess d Bouchard but I'm not sure that's what it is . This was a late fall bloom so maybe the cold brought out the stripes? Oh marlorena I meant to say andromeda is great but really small . It took 3 years to reach the top of my 4 ft trellis .so you may be able to tuck it in somewhere! It blooms twice for me and did try to put out a thrird round this fall but we had a week of frosts way before normal . happy jack

I am very grateful, PV your rapid repsonse was very important. The seeds are now on their way and will be used in a program assisted by Peace Corp volunteers.

I'd just make one change:
"colocar pajote debajo de las plantas" instead of "mantillo de tierra debajo de las plantas". I'm not sure about other Spanish-speaking countries, but in Spain, where I was born and raised, mantillo means compost.

You're very welcome, Trudi, and thank you morguegirl and shemeows! For some strange reason, I can't speak the language, but I can read it pretty well and understand it okay (if someone speaks slowly, I basically pick out the words I know and guess what is being said). Thanks for the correction, shemeows - next time I'll know!

Hey,
I'm brazilian and since portuguese is really similar to spanish I can understand pretty much eveything. There are some changes I'd make.. any native spanish speaker please correct me.

I'd remove the "en la" before germinaciÃ³n.. en la means AT, so it's like "sow seeds 1/4" deep, at germination.."
The correct would be:
"Siembre las semillas 1/4" de profundidad, germinaciÃ³n en 7 a 10 dÃas"

In "las plÃ¡ntulas de trasplante un metro de separaciÃ³n, apoyar cuando sea necesario.", transplante should be a verb (transplant), but in this consctruction it's not..
"transplante las plÃ¡ntulas con um metro se separaciÃ³n" makes more sense to me.

"Aproximadamente el 65-80 dÃas a la madurez." no need to use the "el".. just "Aproximadamente 65-80 dÃas a la madurez."

And finally
"Por favor, guarde semillas de sÃ³lo los mÃ¡s saludables y las plantas mÃ¡s fructÃferas. "

to

"por favor, guarde semillas sÃ³lo de lÃ¡s plantas mÃ¡s saludables e fructÃferas."

So just in case you ever need to use it again, it's:

Siembre las semillas 0,5cm de profundidad, germinaciÃ³n en 7 a 10 dÃas, transplante las plÃ¡ntulas con um metro de separaciÃ³n, apoyar cuando sea necesario. Colocar pajote debajo de las plantas, y dar agua cuando sea necesario. Aproximadamente 65-80 dÃas a la madurez. Por favor, guarde semillas sÃ³lo de lÃ¡s plantas mÃ¡s saludables e fructÃferas.
