FINALLY, I will be getting your packages out this week. I have taken the liberty to add a few surprises, too. Liza, yours still may be a couple days yet as I am waiting on a fresh crop of Pride of Barbados seeds to ripen. Do either of you want any amaryllis seeds, too?

Just wanted to let you know that about 1/3 of the seeds I started from your crosses have sprouted. The % of sprouts from my Popov seeds was very low. Hope you had more luck. I am very excited as I have crossed Faro with Nymph and the pod is very ripe with seed. Sadly, the dang squirrels got my Pink Diamond pods while I was in Colorado so that will have to wait until next year.

All the babies are safe in the rabbit hutch. A good nursery for baby Hippies!

CIndee, how exciting! I will eagerly await the arival! How about just a pinch of seed? Something with new possiblities for me, but I have lots of seedlings going all ready form my crosses. I think mine are mainly crosses with Faro, and Pink Surprise. I have a few of United NAtions crossed with , I think, Orange Souverein. Did you get any from lemon lime? None of those matured for me.

Mine is a cutting from a dear friend... it's grown in a fast draining medium, very similar to what I use for my bulbs. It seems to like the east window it's in, and has 2 babies growing from leaf nodes. They're a bit too small to separate yet, but I think over summer they will be big enough to take off of the mother plant. I'm hoping for flowers sometime this year, and I'll post pictures when it spikes. It's my very first orchid! My second orchid is a Cymbidium... this one is in orchid bark and a clear plastic pot... it's in the same window as the Epi, and seems to be doing well... it should bloom after it gets exposed to a little cool weather this fall. These are the first orchids that seem to actually be thriving in the less than perfect environment I can provide for them. I plan on adding more Epis and Cyms to my jungle in the future. Both orchid types come in a wonderful array of colors and interesting bloom shapes... and the species types are even more interesting! It's all Cindee's fault, I tell ya! She got me hooked on orchids! I'm really glad, though... they're lovely plants, even when not in bloom! Yours are so pretty in all those different colors! Do any of the colored ones have a nice scent?

Hello everybody. Have been enjoying my visit with all of you this evening -- even though you didn't know I was there :-) Dizzy, don't think we've met (my loss) because I only joined a few months ago, but congratulations on your baby -- such a blessing. She's going to be a beauty, for sure. You will post pictures, right? We're finally getting spring here, and you're getting colder there. I, too, really enjoy sharing. Chaz mentioned epiphyllum, which I also have, and one is just starting to bloom. Had for a couple years and fertilized heavily last summer. Here's a not-so-great picture of it. Flower is about three inches across. Have to warn you, though, it does get quite large. Would be good for you folks who live where it's warm. It does like being outside. Do have others I can probably get a few pieces from, but not currently in bloom, so don't know which is which because they're unfortunately not labeled. People have just given me cuttings, and I stick them in a hanging pot and keep them watered. The parent of this red one originated in Berlin. Yes, it went through WWII.

Cindee and everyone else, First, thanks to Gardenweb you are all part of my life. Like it or not!!! LOL I'm a very blessed person and I never take that for granted. I've seen too much in my life to not appreciate what I have. I appreciate you all and the time I get to "spend" with you. I may not post much here lately but I read quite often, school work occupies most of my time these days. I got 3" pots of celosia, alyssum, coleus, and iris(don't know if they are Dutch or Bearded) from a landscaper friend of mine and all are growing healthy. Here are my other plants: two lilacs - one died, the other growing good and healthy S facing fence Celosia pulled when they died but wow they are beauties so I will plant them again White alyssum has a nice scent which I can't describe, the purple one has none. Will someone please tell me how to propagate them. They are planted on my north facing wall. Iris flowered last spring hoping they will flower again next year. My favorite is clematis as soon as the one I planted in the fall of 2004 showed the most beautiful blooms I had ever seen. So this year I planted more and have 44 planted in my 800 or so sq. ft. of garden with a few more coming this spring. 3 bush and 3 tree peonies - the trees all bloomed, but none of the bushes bloom at all. Rose of Sharon standard form on container growing good and bloomed all summer in direct sunlight. Tulips and daffodils all rotted last 2004 (heavy rain on clay soil) so the replacements were planted this fall so I hope to see some blooms this spring. I now have a raised garden because nothing seems to grow on our clay soil. Fraxinus Americana and Fraxinus Pennsylvanica are planted in my front lawn - mostly clay but it now has a drain system. What are my chances that they will not die as we are having lots of rain again this year? Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated especially plants good for clay soil as my north facing wall only has a 6 inch raised bed. Liza, I have Lemon & Lime crossed with Red Lion, Bolero, Vera, Vlammenspel, & Ferrari. My L&L are quite the lil' seed producers, I'll include some of these for you.

I'll be heading to the post office tomorrow with yours, and yep a couple of surprises too. No seeds for me, I don't have room!!!! I've moved quite a few of my plants into larger pots and am worried about anything won't be able to store in the basement dormant for the winter!!!

(((((((((CHAZ)))))))) You are awesome, dude! The wonderful package was the delight of my day!! The blue puya is interesting, I am going to put it in my Bromeliad/cacti bed. Does it prefer shade? The especia Pink Panther (never grew espicias) will go on the window sill with my African Violet collection.

The Epi Cacti are going in a basket under my pergola next to my other Epi cacti and the Kiki will go on my Orchid shelf on the patio. Oh the Christmas cactus will go on the dining room window sill with my other small Christmas cacti. I hope you are as excited with the package I sent off to you yesterday as I am with yours. Dennis made a comment..."Oh good, you're getting rid of some plants!" hee hee He just doesn't get it! lol I found the espicia on line. It is soooooooo pretty! Thanks so much! Hugs!!!
