Is your Maltese Cross actually a true red? It looks it. Mine is scarlet. If yours is red, please save seed from it, for all the crazy Red Bed folks (like me!)

Tiffy....panoramic view? That is the wheat field looking towards the highway with another field on the other side. I guess it's ok, but I don't think nothing of it since I see nothing BUT fields every day in my town and I come from North Dakota!! Funny everyone here is excited about how pretty the test Canola field looks (a sea of yellow flowers), but again I'm from North Dakota....so that wasn't a big whoop either LOL! Now I'll tell ya though.... a field of blue flax or sunflower is still amazingly beautiful to me no matter where I see it!! I think the best pictures I've taken with that wheat field in view came from snapping shots of storm clouds and rainbows :)

Actually my main colors are various shades of purple and yellow with red and white mixed in. I'm warming up to oranges lately too :)

Wow nice variety of flowers, none of which I grow. I love your cloud pics too. Having the field in the picture really anchors it.
Did you winter sow the mallow? Also when you say winter sow what time do you mean? I would love to try it.

Malva 'Zebrina' and 'Braveheart' were sown March 20th. After looking back in my records I did not do 'Windsor Castle'. I think I was planning to do those when nothing was happening with the above containers. Now 'Braveheart' is also setting buds and the foliage is much bigger, different textured and lighter green than Zebrina...almost looks crossed with Hollyhock LOL! Here is a picture of them side by side in the bed. Don't mind the pitiful Scabiosa that keeps getting chewed on or the Abelmoschus manihot that got squeezed out LOL! I'm moving that Abelmoschus today :)

I like the look of mountains. In fall we usually spend a few days in the Smokies, crunching leaves underfoot while roaming around the park and the mountains. Now that, I find breathtaking. When renting a house, my main criteria is a spectacular mountain view with a house attached to it!

A couple of years ago we visited Wa and I thought it must be the prettiest place on earth. But our travels were limited to the Olympic Peninsula. Again, we gravitated to the mountains, rainforests, and west coast beaches. Vera's terrain in eastern Wa is totally different. I guess the only common denomonater is lush, beautiful flowers. But in think Vera could grow beautiful flowers in concrete.

Most vacations we spend on ocean beaches- Caribbean in winter, Gulf beaches in summer. Why do I live in Ohio???

Yes, the eastern side of the Cascades is a much different climate than the Olympic Peninsula/Pacific Northwest of Western WA. Here we are known as the Inland Northwest where the annual precipitation is an avr. 17 inches. In my specific location we are about 25 miles from the Idaho border at the beginning of the region known as the Palouse:)

I LOVE those weather shots! Miss that here in Ohio. I have tornado pictures where I lived in Oklahoma and chased storms. Vera, you have taught me a lot about eastern WA.

Karen - why do we live in Ohio? I'm a Buckeye and I bleed scarlet and gray. Wouldn't be anywhere else (other than Albuquerque). I am so excited for fall I can't stand it.
