Houzzers Show Their Trekker Side
In honor of ‘Star Trek Beyond,’ released in theaters July 22, Houzzers share their themed rooms, collections and costumes
Star Trek Beyond, the new film in the popular franchise, comes out today, and we’re betting that the lines at the theater will be long. After all, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the original show’s 1966 debut. In honor of all the Trekkers out there, we present Star Trek-inspired rooms, collections and costumes from the Houzz community. Live long and prosper!
An ode to Captain Picard. Houzzer gerrysperry painted this in acrylic “to accent my extensive collection of Trek memorabilia.” The piece is titled An Inner Light and is based on an image of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Star Trek memorabilia. Speaking of memorabilia, confirmed Trekker Sean M uploaded a photo of his collection, which includes an autographed copy of Leonard: My Fifty-Year Friendship With a Remarkable Man, by William Shatner; an unused model kit of the USS Enterprise command bridge; and a $20 silver coin from the Canadian mint bearing the image of the starship Enterprise.
Sean M is also the proud owner of a reprint of the script for the 1967 Star Trek episode “The Trouble With Tribbles,” written and signed by David Gerrold, as well as a Star Trek: The Original Series Bluetooth Communicator by The Wand Co. that “can actually make and receive phone calls and has all the sounds and features of the originals used in the show,” Sean M writes. This Houzzer also has a Star Trek watch that plays the series’ theme song and has a replica of the USS Enterprise on the second hand. To the left of the watch is a Christmas ornament that flashes, chirps and plays sound bites from the show.

Trek’d out for charity. “I work with a nonprofit group in Bozeman, Montana, that’s been putting on a First Contact Party for the last few years,” writes Houzzer Julia AM, referring to the 1996 film Star Trek: First Contact, set in Montana, in which the cast members of Star Trek: The Next Generation star. “While we don’t have any themed rooms, we have had great fun making backdrops for our photo booths, props, costumes and raffle prizes.
A niche for a Starfleet uniform. This room, in the portfolio of Houzz pro Naomi Astley Clarke, proudly displays a Starfleet uniform from Star Trek: The Next Generation, with the designation for the rank of an admiral.
Basement ode to Star Trek. This basement, designed by Finished Basement Co. in Denver, features replicas of part of the Star Trek: Enterprise television series set, as well as some cast photos. At right is a picture of the actors in that series. At left is an autographed head shot of Karl Urban, who plays Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in the franchise’s newest films. The control panels on the wall as well as the jerrycan on the floor are copies of those used on Star Trek: Enterprise.
The USS Enterprise above. The guest room ceiling of Houzzer jmwr2’s home features a tiny glow-in-the-dark USS Enterprise crafted from the border of a pack of ceiling stars and planets. The guest room once belonged to jmwr2’s daughter, and the mini starship has “been voyaging on that frontier for 27 years,” jmwr2 writes. “When our guests turn off the lights, they get to sleep under the stars.”
Design for closet Trekkers. Finally, for those looking for an even subtler nod to Star Trek, we’d like to remind you that Eero Saarinen’s Tulip table was used in the series.
