I don't know about the herbicide. Not sure, but it seems like you're watering A LOT. I'm not sure about your zone, but I'm in USDA zone 8 and I usually deep water my maters 1-2x per week depending on the heat. You put a fence around your Zuk? LOL that's funny! It's botanical name is Acca Sellowiana, but it also lists the common name which is Pineapple Guava. I've never ordered a guava from WP's before so don't know how tall it'll be. Also, when I ordered Pineapple and Strawberry guava's before, it was either from Jung's, Henry's or Gurney's.Do you get catalogs from any of these nurseries? They also have online sites. They were decent sizes and compact. Patty, I planted the Poncirus (flying dragon) in the ground last summer, '04 and it overwintered fine..didn't even brown. I used mulch about halfway up, but it's slow-growing..Well, actually, I moved it this summer because it wasn't getting enough sun in that spot, since I've moved it, it's put on new growth. I think WP's charges 5.00 for the Poncirus now..not sure, I'd have to check the site. Like I said, it was approximately 1' tall and at the time, 4.00. I also planted a basjoo banana last summer, and another this yr. One was bought at a place GW doesn't allow to name, the recent at WP's. I also bought 2 palms which I planted this summer..don't know if they'll make it, but two guys on Palm Forum, (Chicago and Ontario) has successfully grown palms in their yards. Danielle, Horrible of me to stick my nose in and not have anything constructive to offer but natural stone just isn't my thing (my dream kitchen would probably have richlite, bamboo or even an acrylic solid surface) I just wanted to stick up for the slate because I think it is really lovely and a little bit more off the beaten track (particularly combined with the QS oak). You picked the slate milk paint and the QS oak so I doubt I could come with anything better. I just tend to think as another poster pointed out that the chance of finding another great slab that will work with your initial choices isn't so remote.

I actually quite like the stone despite the "coffee stains", although I agree it would be nicer without. I probably would have said exactly what you were thinking..."You aren't moving them for nothing, you are moving them so you can sell me a slab I like." And I would have added that I had driven 2.5 hours to get there. AND I would have pointed out that they had obviously moved at least 4 slabs for a previous shopper who apparantly had liked the inner slabs better than the outer ones. Then I would have crossed my arms and tapped my foot, and broken out my best evil eye. It still might not have worked, since it sounds like he was stupid and lazy. I would actually recommend that you get on the phone with the yard, ask to speak to the manager, and tell him what happened and what your expectations are/were. If your options are limited (and that is the only reason I would consider going back there), I would definitely make that call before I invested the time in another trip.
